Senior Director of Development

The Aquarium in accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums. With over 130 year round employees, a $12 million operating budget, and over 500,000 visitors each year, the TSA is the top cultural attraction in South Texas, and one of the top fifteen accredited not-for-profit Aquariums in the nation. Annually, from its operating programs the Aquarium raises over $1 million through a combination of philanthropy, special events and membership support. 

The Texas State Aquarium is seeking a senior level, dynamic development executive to lead our organization’s development efforts and be a key member of the senior leadership team.  The ideal candidate is a leader and strategic thinker with a proven track record managing successful, multi-million dollar capital campaigns and cultivating and soliciting significant major gifts. The Senior Director of Development will provide leadership and guidance for all development activities.  The Senior Director works closely with the President & CEO of the Aquarium and the Board of Trustees and supervises staff that includes a development director  and other support staff.

Experience Required

A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, or related field from a four-year college or university required (Master’s degree preferred) along with 15 years of progressive experience in related field and minimum five years of previous managerial/leadership experience. An equivalent combination of education or experience may also meet the required qualifications.
