Apex for Youth

ABOUT APEX FOR YOUTH

Apex for Youth delivers possibilities to underserved Asian and immigrant youth in New York City by providing mentoring, educational, and enrichment programs for students from pre-K through 12th grade. Apex staff and volunteers guide and inspire youth to become confident young adults who are ready for college and give back to the community. Apex was founded in 1992 and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2017.

Organizations like ours can no longer feel supplemental: we are simply essential as we face an ongoing global pandemic and a reckoning of this country’s anti-racist attitudes and behaviors. Our Asian youth have never been more vulnerable as they face mental health issues and a spectrum of anti-Asian racism. Asian American representation and agency must take center stage as we provide resources and services for our Asian and immigrant youth.

Apex for Youth is leading the charge. Since 2011, we have grown from serving 100 youth a year to a $4M organization with almost 20 full-time staff members serving 1,000 youth with the help of more than 300 volunteers. With an engaged Board of Directors, a strong reputation, and a committed donor base, Apex is positioned to build on a strong programmatic foundation to create a hybrid model that is both online and in person to deliver our critical programs and services, and provide a positive impact on our youth, ensuring they are confident, career-ready, and community-minded.

We are also a force for community-building. We bring Asian-Americans to the table to develop platforms and pipelines so young people can gain equal footing. Additionally, we are part of local and national conversations on how we better serve our Asian youth and provide opportunities for their educational and personal growth.
