Director, Development Operations
The Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy (PICI) is radically changing the way cancer research is done. Overview of the Role
The Director, Development Operations plays a crucial role in building the fundraising division at the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy (PICI). Embedded within PICI and reporting into the Parker Foundation, the Director will work cross-functionally to create and implement strong operational systems for all of PICI’s fundraising initiatives. This includes- but is not limited to- oversight and management of donor database, prospect research, development reporting, gift processing, development communications, campaign and budget management, donor relations and stewardship.
Reporting Structure and Team
The Director, Development Operations will report to the Vice President, Communications. This position will work collaboratively with the Communications department and senior leadership.

Essential Job Functions
- Develop and implement fundraising policies, procedures, processes and compliance in collaboration with the appropriate internal departments
- Provide day-to-day management of fundraising activities, events, meetings, briefings and follow-up
- Contribute to ongoing strategic planning for all fundraising initiatives, with keen attention to development metrics such as event results, donor cycle tracking, revenue tracking
- Prepare detailed briefings, presentations and other needed material for staff and founder in advance of meetings, calls and events
- Develop prospective donor action plans and pipeline reports to track and drive activity
- Implement an effective year-round stewardship, communications and recognition program for all donors; identify opportunities to improve donor engagement and recognition
- Maintain strong coordination with all activities of the Marketing and Communications department
- Manage third-party services for fundraising and prospect research (such as RelSci, WealthEngine, iWave, Foundation Directory, etc.)
- Work with business operations to maintain and improve financial tracking, gift processing and acknowledgement procedures
- Work with IT to oversee donor data collection, entry, integrity and usability; manage the donor database to increase functionality and enhance fundraising capabilities
- Work cross functionally to identify and apply for outside grants and fundraising opportunities
- Manage registrations for federal and state workplace giving campaigns; identify and implement additional passive revenue streams
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to achieve fundraising goals
- Represent the organization and its mission effectively and professionally; maintain highest level of donor relations and service
- Willingness to travel (estimate 4 trips per year).
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Four-year college or university degree
- Minimum 9 years’ experience working in nonprofit fundraising or sales operations
- Able to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment with demonstrated ability to juggle and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands and to seek management assistance as appropriate.
- Rigorous organizational skills with a meticulous attention to detail; systems and process-oriented
- Depth of experience using a CRM to improve fundraising or sales operations required; experience with Salesforce preferred
- Excellent understanding of nonprofit fundraising principles, operations, policies, procedures, systems and records management
- Familiarity with prospect research tools such as WealthEngine and RelSci
- Experience with major gift fundraising, special events, annual giving, corporate/workplace giving and/or capital campaigns
- Superior communications and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written; customer-service mindset
- Ability to effectively collaborate with other functions and departments such as marketing, business operations/finance, IT, legal
- Fluency in MS Office suite, advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills
- Strong planning skills including the ability to anticipate tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines and function smoothly under strict deadlines and shifting priorities
