Voqal is currently looking for a Remote Program Officer to join our dynamic, growing team. This position reports to the Director of Grant-making and Fellowship Programs.

Voqal grant-making is a philanthropic program that promotes social equity in creative and disruptive ways. We have a deep commitment to racial and social justice. We invest in leaders, organizations, and movements who are closest to injustice and are fighting for collective liberation. We are committed to the promotion of social, economic, and racial justice through the support of community organizing and public policy advocacy. We carry out our work in a way that builds the capacity of communities to win political power and we prioritize funding communities who have traditionally had power used against them.


The Program Officer will advance social justice by developing, managing, and leading equity-centered grant-making initiatives that strengthen and protect five pillars of democracy: representative government, fundamental rights, information and communication, fair processes, and civic engagement.

Duties may include researching and recommending impactful grant-making opportunities; creating strong, deep, and trusting relationships with grantees, potential grantees, and peer funders; and deepening the alignment and practice of equitable grant-making both internally and externally.

Approximately half of the work will be in service to the people-led movements in Chicago. We strongly encourage applicants from the Chicagoland area or applicants who are available to travel to Chicago often, when travel is a safe option.

Compensation and Benefits 

The salary for this position is $83K. Voqal also offers a very generous benefits package including partially paid medical coverage for employees and dependents; partially paid dental and vision; paid LTD, STD, and AD&D; paid vacation, sick, holidays, and personal time; and a retirement program including profit sharing and 401K plans and match.
