We seek a passionate, forward-thinking, and art-loving individual to fulfill a crucial research and operations role. The Development Operations Assistant works closely with the managers of Research & Strategy and Reports & Integrations to assist with comprehensive and detailed research projects, as well as gift processing, data hygiene, and other aspects of Development data operations. The Development department is responsible for all fundraising activities and events, working with key stakeholders across all donor constituencies, and serving as a definitive focal point for our relationships with community supporters and influencers.


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • One or more years of related professional experience in development at a not-for-profit organization
  • Demonstrated experience using Raiser's Edge or similar fundraising software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong technology skills and general computer literacy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Aptitude for maintaining and creating systems and strong analytical abilities
  • Strong analytical and problems solving skills
  • Ability to meet competing deadlines on time, while working independently and exercising thoughtful prioritization
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Additional qualifications:

  • Knowledge of online information resources such as LexisNexis and iWave preferred


  • Prepare briefing materials and help conduct research for the Museum Director, gift officers, and managers of foundation and corporate relations
  • Monitor news, philanthropic publications, and alerts to identify new prospects
  • Find appropriate online services, magazines, and research tools and enter them into the ResearchPoint database
  • Work with development officers to build and maintain research queries and reports in Raiser's Edge
  • Assist with the processing of all gifts received via lockbox, non-lockbox, and online donations, including both credit card processing and checks received
  • Efficiently and accurately enter donor and prospect information into Raiser's Edge on a regular basis
  • Process mail edits, which includes researching bad addresses and completing changes of address on returned mail
  • Support all team members in the department with information retrieval for related gifts
  • Coordinate meetings for the Museum's Director and gift officers, including all aspects of funding, departmental, and individual moves management meetings
  • Participate in long- and short-term development strategic planning to meet fundraising goals
  • Other duties as assigned
