Associate Director, Gift Planning

The Advancement division at Dartmouth is searching for a key partner to join our Gift Planning team. The work of our Associate Director will include managing engagement and stewardship strategies, marketing, and communications to raise awareness of planned giving vehicles with our alumni and volunteers. Opportunities are plentiful to collaborate in this role with alumni, parents, friends, divisional and institutional colleagues to foster relationship cultivation, including in the management of life income plans. Thoughtful and thorough communications and collaborations are key with attorneys, trustees, advisors, and various institutional teams in managing probate and estate settlement trust administration in keeping with Dartmouth's fiduciary standards, trust agreements and wills, contracts, and the expectations of the family whose loved one generously provided for a gift to Dartmouth. Our new colleague will prepare written materials detailing the intricacies of the financial, legal, and tax-related aspects of charitable gift planning to engage donors and support our colleagues working with donors in establishing deferred and planned gifts, including gift proposals, solicitations, and stewardship materials based on donors' interests, resources, and philanthropic priorities. Manages research and data reporting for the Gift Planning team, including planned gift activity and donor/beneficiary reports.

Our successful candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree with at least five years of experience in banking trust, deferred giving, fundraising, or a related field. A knowledge of estate planning, wills, trusts, IRA, gift annuities, and beneficiary insurance policies are essential for navigating the work in this role. An effective communicator with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with appropriate discretion will be essential in forging relationships with donors, volunteers, colleagues, and collaborators in this role where teamwork is essential to our success. Strong project management and organization, with an eye for details. A strong understanding of components of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and the ability to work with data sets for reporting measures will be an asset in this role.
