Your responsibilities will include:  

  • Develop and lead a comprehensive strategy to scale our national volunteer initiative and expand our volunteer pool and pipeline 
  • Oversee the entire volunteer life cycle including volunteer recruitment, training and safety protocols, activations, deployment, and engagement  
  • Review and assess current volunteer-led programs and identify areas of high-growth potential 
  • Participate in the development and management of the budget for volunteer-led programming 
  • Work cross-functionally to deliver robust internal systems to ensure that volunteer strategies are replicable 
  • Other duties as assigned  

 

Experience and skills you bring to the organization 

  • Alignment with Phoenix's guiding principles (healing culture, personal growth, professional growth, introspection and humility, being of service) 
  • A strong connection to The Phoenix Mission and commitment to leading by example are critical to this position 
  • 7+ years of professional experience and 5+ years' experience in volunteer or community management 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to people from all walks of life 
  • Proven track record of expanding organizational capacity through the utilization of volunteers 
  • Proven understanding of the unique nature of the trusted volunteer relationship 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to people from all diverse backgrounds
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to quickly adapt to change 
  • Able to function well in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment taking concepts and ideas from discussion through execution 
  • Experience leading and supervising high performing teams 
  • Willingness to travel based on business needs
