The Phoenix is looking to scale our national impact and has a goal of reaching over one million people by 2025. As our SF Bay Area Director, you'll contribute to this growth in San Francisco and the larger Bay Area. You will oversee existing programming operations while helping expand our reach in new communities.

The SF Bay Area Director job is highly collaborative. You will work with local and national leadership, staff, volunteers, and donor partners to build and implement strategies that diversify and scale our programming throughout the area. You will also be responsible for strategic planning, program innovation and management, and relationship management throughout the region. This position will focus on fundraising and development capabilities and will require an innovative approach to donor relations, partnerships, and programming and will be responsible for overseeing local operations, community relations, fundraising, and expansion in the Bay Area. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES

 

  • Develop and cultivate relationships with staff, Team Members, community partners, and donors
  • Work as part of a larger team to build a robust sober active community in the San Francisco Bay Area
  • Supervise local leadership, development and other staff as needed
  • Oversee all aspects of The Phoenix programming in the region, including ensuring that program staff are meeting strategic goals
  • In partnership with fundraising staff, establish, lead, and execute diverse fundraising strategies that position Phoenix for sustainability across priority markets. Fundraising efforts may include stewardship of individual donors, government and foundation grants, peer-to-peer fundraising, corporate sponsorships, and campaigns
  • Network with organizations, task forces, and government and other local leaders to position Phoenix as a preferred partner and industry leader delivering programs that improve the lives of our constituents
  • Leverage partnerships when appropriate to amplify Phoenix's impact and generate revenue
  • Utilize data to maximize performance, drive value creation for members, and reduce waste
  • Oversee the budgeting and financial health of programs and chapters operating in the Bay Area
  • Engage in talent acquisition processes such as interviewing, hiring, training, retention, discipline, and separation
  • Work closely with staff on Phoenix-wide policies and procedures; learn from and offer advice to others in a collaborative manner
  • Participate in local and national meetings
  • Respond promptly, accurately and cordially to all inquiries
  • Be an ambassador for The Phoenix at all times
  • Complete other duties as assigned
  • Work evening and weekend hours
  • Travel for meetings as necessary

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to people from all walks of life
  • 3-5 years' experience as a nonprofit leader
  • Experience with fundraising, budgets, and program management
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to quickly adapt to change
  • Ability to use standard office equipment and computer software, including word processing, spreadsheet applications, and email
  • Alignment with Phoenix's guiding principles (healing culture, personal growth, professional growth, introspection and humility, being of service)
  • Knowledge and consistent demonstration of excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to listen well and communicate effectively orally and in writing with various audiences
  • Lived experience as a peer in recovery preferred
  • Experience facilitating, instructing, or participating in disciplines offered by Phoenix preferred
