Smile Train is an international not-for-profit organization headquartered in New York, whose vision is to transform the life of every person impacted by cleft lip and palate. Smile Train supports and trains doctors and medical professionals to provide free life-changing comprehensive cleft treatment to children in need. To date, Smile Train’s sustainable model, “teach a man to fish,” has allowed them to support 1.5+ million cleft surgeries around the world.

Smile Train seeks a collaborative, innovative, entrepreneurial professional to fill the newly created role of Vice President, Grants Management (VPGM). The VPGM will serve as a strategic leader for all aspects of grants management and administration. S/he will streamline and standardize Smile Train’s grants management systems, practices, processes, and protocols to accomplish the organization’s goals and objectives. The successful candidate will promote and apply industry best practices for effective, efficient, and impactful grantmaking to ensure that Smile Train is able to deliver on its vision.

The ideal candidate will provide executive-level strategic leadership and will be responsible for the strategic direction and execution of Smile Train’s grants management functions. S/he will provide customer-centric leadership in close partnership with regional and field staff, Finance, Development, and Communications for Smile Train’s 1,100+ global partners in 70+ countries.

The VPGM will report to the Senior Vice President, Programs. S/he will be based in Smile Train’s New York headquarters and oversee the Grants team of four. The successful candidate will have experience implementing or administering a grants management database, preferably with Salesforce or foundationConnect. The ideal candidate will provide training and support to Smile Train’s departments to ensure streamlined operations.
