Leadership Gift Officer

 

Reports To: The Chief Advancement Officer

Purpose:  The Leadership Gift Officer will develop a portfolio of Bolles’ constituencies resulting in major, planned, and capital campaign gifts in support of strategic fundraising priorities. They will also assist the CAO with stewardship programs to provide continual support of these strategic priorities.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or CFRE preferred
  • Proficient in fundraising principles and strategies
  • Experience working in a fundraising program, preferably education
  • Demonstrated success in closing major level gift solicitations required
  • Demonstrated success in stewarding donors strategically resulting in a contact and cultivation plan that values past and current donors
  • High degree of initiative along with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and write first-class donor letters and acknowledgements demonstrating a working knowledge of writing for philanthropy in all correspondence
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all constituents
  • Demonstrated competency with internet functions, as well as relevant software applications, proficient in Raiser’s Edge a plus
  • High professional and ethical standards in handling confidential information
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks with close attention to detail and deadlines
  • Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to think and plan strategically and creatively
  • Must be willing to work extended hours and travel as needed
  • A high level of professionalism in character, appearance, and demeanor

 General

  • Must have the ability and willingness to communicate well, work congenially, and deal effectively with all school personnel and school families, as well as with the larger business and educational community

 Essential Functions:

  • Works with members of the school community, including various departments, faculty, and staff to steward past donors, parents, alumni, faculty, etc. by assisting the Advancement Department in executing a comprehensive stewardship program to thank, acknowledge, engage and involve them in The Bolles School family
  • Along with the CAO, develop strategies for cultivation which includes best contacts and connections that will lead to successful gift cultivation and closure
  • Provides the CAO with annual goals and objectives reviewed on a quarterly basis
  • Creates meaningful experiences for donors based on research and knowledge
  • Collaborates with the Advancement Department for the purpose of securing major gifts
  • Must be able to provide and organize all research reporting for donors
  • Cultivates donor relationships using best practices and professional standards in every donor engagement
  • Develops a portfolio that is ever evolving and demonstrates individualized, customized strategic fundraising/stewardship plans
  • Works with the Events Manager to create and execute donor events with the approval of the CAO
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all naming opportunities for Capital Campaign gifts, as well as long term and short-term needs that benefit from philanthropy
  • Writes fundraising materials and correspondence without error and within best practice guidelines for writing for philanthropy
  • Provides writing for the profession that is professional and serious with the donor’s best interests in mind
  • Responsible for a complete communications plan for all assigned donors
  • Designs and drafts gift proposals and funding options in collaboration with the CAO and Communications
  • Reports to the Director of Advancement Services and Advancement Services Coordinator to properly register gift proposals and gift income
  • As a member of the Bolles team, perform other duties as requested by the CAO
