Through its varied programs, AIChE continues to be a focal point for information exchange on the frontiers of chemical engineering research in such areas as energy, sustainability, biological and environmental engineering, nanotechnology, and chemical plant safety and security.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Chief of Development Officer, the Manager of Major Gifts of Development will secure and grow financial support for our organization. The Manager of Major Gifts will focus on strategies for building relationships with individual donors and will align fundraising goals as such, maintaining knowledge of donor interests to align with the organizations strategic initiatives, help ensure donor funded programs are well orchestrated and cultivate relationships with major donors with a focus on five and six figure multi-year gifts. He/she will be an active participant in fundraising events, development of peer to peer donor development plans, and lead support our governance efforts to build a sustained growing major donor community. The successful individual will build lasting relationships with donors, and keep them informed on how their financial support is making the world a better place.

Responsibilities

  • Develop/Implement phase 2 campaign with a focus on Major Giving, working collaboratively with ELT, & stakeholders to align w-AIChE strategic plan. Messaging developed and new Goal established
  • Develop individual Case for support for major giving
  • Collaborate with board of trustees and executive leadership to secure and grow major donor financial support from individuals and organizations
  • Develop and implement fundraising plans that align with the organizations overall strategic plan
  • Ensure the successful implementation of major donor funded programs and measure outcomes through a systematic approach
  • Oversee foundation communications strategy with major donors
  • Prepare major donor gift proposals to secure major multi-year gifts
  • Collaborate with board to identify and build relationships with new major donors; maintain relationships with existing donors
  • Manage fundraising and special events for Major Donor supported activities
  • Generate development materials such as grants and case statements

Requirements and Competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated track record of securing major multi-year gifts
  • Exceptional project management and time management skills; strong attention to details
  • Ability to take the lead and motivate volunteers, executive leadership and in supporting major gifts
  • Demonstrated experience working successfully within a highly collaborative and collegial organization
  • Adapt to new situations and quickly problem solve
  • Proficient with individual and/or corporate solicitations
  • Demonstrated track record of securing major multi-year gifts
  • Proficient with individual and/or corporate solicitations
  • Excellent understanding of best practices
  • Affinity for technical learning and application

Preferred Experience

  • Work experience with corporate, academic, government, non-profit organizations

Preferred Software Proficiencies

  • MS Office Products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams)
  • Must be proficient in creating executive level presentations
  • Smartsheet a plus

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, non-profit management preferred or relevant discipline
  • 8-10 years of proven Fundraising expertise; business development experience a plus

Location

  • This position is currently remote, but will be located in our NYC Global Office when COVID in person restrictions are lifted.
