Responsibilities

The Director of Data Management provides leadership in data entry and maintenance, and is responsible for the operation of the Development Data unit.  This individual is the Data Steward for the FSU Advancement database.   The individual manages data as a valued enterprise asset and contributes to the strategic planning and implementation of key Foundation initiatives.   The incumbent provides leadership in customer service with attention to accuracy, detail, relevancy, and timeliness to requests for information.  The Director of Data Management upholds and exemplifies the operating practices and mission of the Florida State University Foundation.

Department Management

Responsible for the operation of the Data Management department unit which processes information updates from constituents, advancement staff, members of the university community, and other sources. Communicates advancement data and Data Management-related policies and procedures to development staff, campus users, volunteers, and constituents. Instills in Data Management staff a holistic view of the role of Data Management within the FSU Foundation and the larger university community. Responsible for creating, managing, and demonstrating return on investment (ROI) on a comprehensive data hygiene plan. Identifies, communicates, and resolves data quality and data reconciliation issues. Responsible for the training, supervising, and evaluating department staff performance. Exhibits leadership in keeping abreast of new initiatives or technology that would improve accuracy, timeliness, and stewardship of our donors. Develops annual initiatives and prepares the annual operating budget for department. Collaborates in the generation of reports used to manage, audit, and benchmark the Data Management processing operation. Protects confidential information.

Data Integrity

Responsible for the definition, management, control, integrity, and maintenance of the FSU Advancement data base. Oversees a comprehensive document imaging solution and implements best practices for capturing digitized documents for constituent, biographical, and gift-related data. Identifies, communicates, and resolves data quality and data reconciliation issues. Communicates regularly with operational staff to ensure database integrity. Assists campus users in the coordination of returned mail and processing address updates to the Advancement database.

Campus Outreach & Other

Provides outreach to campus units regarding their data needs and orientation about how the FSU Advancement Database and services of FSU Foundation support their programs.

Responsible for ensuring that data feeds provided from the phone solicitation program are accurately reflected in the Advancement database. Provides leadership in the creation, documentation, implementation, and review of advancement data processes in collaboration with the Alumni Association, Seminole Boosters, and Ringling Museum. Serves on the FSU Advancement Database Integrity Committee (FADIC). Assists other Foundation departments and units to develop cost effective and efficient US mail solutions. Performs other duties as requested.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four years of experience; or a high school diploma/equivalent and experience equal to eight years. (Note: post-high school education may substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)

Proficiency in the Microsoft Office products suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word), or equivalent software.

Ability to validate data, identify anomalies and research discrepancies using a wide range of resources.

Excellent communication skills to include strong verbal and written proficiency.

Ability to maintain consistent and positive communication with the Foundation.

Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously and accurately in a detail-oriented environment.

Preferred

Advanced degree preferred.

Experience with Black Baud’s CRM Platform or other fundraising information management systems/databases.

Knowledge and expertise of fundraising fundamentals and process analysis

Experience in data handling techniques to include queries, data imports, and exports

Ability to plan, implement, manage and monitor programs.

Strategic thinker.

Professional demeanor with a teamwork approach and a can-do, assertive philosophy.

 

Pay Plan

This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.
