In partnership with a dedicated philanthropic community, the
Office of Development and Alumni Affairs helped to transform NYU
Langone Health into one of the top academic medical centers in the
country and continues to foster significant advancements
enterprise-wide. Our team recently completed a $3 billion campaign,
which rallied tremendous local and national support, including NYU
Grossman School of Medicine’s thriving alumni network. This
remarkable base of individuals, families, foundations, and
organizations provided critical funding for our large-scale
Manhattan campus transformation and is a driving force behind the
enterprise’s expansive research portfolio, innovations in medical
education, and one of the nation’s best and safest patient care
programs. In 2018 our School made history with its Tuition Free
initiative, becoming the first top-tier medical school in the
country to provide full-tuition scholarships to all MD degree
students—funded entirely through philanthropy. And in the face of

The Office of Development and Alumni Affairs is focused on carrying
forward this extraordinary momentum and offers special

professional and personal experiences to a creative, collaborative
fundraising shop.
Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a
Director-Corporate/Foundation Relations.
In this role, the successful candidate plays a leadership role
within the Office of Development and Alumni Affairs and is
responsible for creating and implementing strategies to attract
funding for cancer and additional research efforts at NYU Langone
Health. The focus of this portfolio will be to develop
foundation-based opportunities while building dynamic relationships
with internal stakeholders. The Director develops, writes, and
edits proposals and reports, maintains appropriate grant files and
documents and proactively establishes and builds positive
relationships with NYU Langone faculty/staff, foundation donors,
and prospects. The Director is responsible for fundraising from
Foundations and prospects at the major gifts level, with a focus on
six and seven-figure gifts.
The Director is an experienced development professional responsible
for managing all aspects of the cultivating, soliciting, and
stewarding a portfolio of foundation donors and representing and
supporting faculty/principal investigators and leadership as a
members of the Foundation Relations team. This position will report
to the Senior Director for Foundation Relations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Cultivate and maintain relationships and develop funding
opportunities with national and local foundation with an emphasis
on priority clinical, education and research initiatives. Steward
current foundation donors to enhance existing relationships.
Develop relationships with faculty and leadership in portfolio areas of coverage and organize meetings surrounding fundraising goals, philanthropic opportunities and ongoing project development.
In partnership with physicians, scientists, administrators and other gift officers, produce, write and edit grant proposals, letters of inquiry, concept papers, and reports in appropriate language for donors. Successfully manage the process of preparing and submitting proposals, letters of intent, budgets and reports and meet all donor/prospect deadlines. - Work with legal counsel to write and execute gift agreements
and terms for grants.
Organize and prepare for site visits, presentations, and events with foundation donors in collaboration with faculty, leadership and departments and NYU Langone Health.
Prepare timely fundraising progress reports. Comply with all grant terms and reporting as required by donors. Provide necessary follow up and stewardship. Meet deadlines with grantee and grantor after proposals are funded.
Document all development activity related to solicitations, reports and stewardship using the Trax donor/prospect database. - Conduct new foundation prospect research to identify viable
prospects that complement the work of physicians and staff at NYU
Langone Health.
Contribute to good relations with the Office of Sponsored Program Administration (SPA), and the University Office of Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR).
As needed, the Director of Foundation Relations may manage staff within the Foundation Relations team.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's Degree.
9-10+ years of related experience with a proven track record of
success in donor engagement and grant preparation (minimum of at
least 7 years of experience within foundation relations).
Experience with creating project budgets.
Strong writing/editing skills.
Commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently, as well as part of a dynamic
team.
Ability to interact professionally with all levels of diverse
public.
Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments and meet
deadlines.
Excellent organizations, interpersonal and communication
skills.
High-level of energy, initiative, and creativity.
Self-motivated, outgoing and results oriented.
Knowledge of software applications, including MS office.
Development database experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
3 years of management experience (preferred). Graduate Degree
preferred.
