The Senior Director of Board Operations and Volunteer Engagement (Assistant Board Secretary) of the UMCPF will be responsible for strategic board support to the three Foundation Officers. This person is a key project manager, highly effective communicator and influencer across the division and campus, successfully building relationships and leading through lines of informal authority to accomplish critical objectives related to the operations and engagement of the UMCPF Board of Trustees, as well as additional volunteer recruitment, development and engagement in the broader University volunteer ecosystem.

The Senior Director functions as a collaborative partner to the AVP for UR/Vice President and Secretary of the UMCPF and, as such, actively collaborates in shaping the strategy and resulting agendas and work product of the UMCPF Board of Trustees. This individual performs strategic data analysis, reports findings based on this analysis, and makes observations and recommendations to inform the perspective and business decisions pertaining to the UMCPF specifically and to the UMD volunteer ecosystem expansively.

The successful candidate will need to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and discretion, earn and win trust across the division and university, think independently, contribute as a problem solver, handle multiple complex tasks while maintaining deadlines, be well organized, communicate clearly and have a general understanding of University Relations functions, including development, advancement services, and alumni relations. As well, this individual must be able to conceptualize, create and produce high-caliber UMCPF Board of Trustees meeting materials, correspondence, and other tangible outputs required to support discussion and strategy of the various facets of Board operations and volunteer pipeline development, recruitment, retention and engagement. Finally, while not an event expert per se, this professional must have a high-degree of expertise with fashioning and delivery quality Board meeting experiences and other volunteer programs/engagement opportunities.

This Senior Director will be required to work evenings and weekends as needed as well as travel as necessary in support of various events.
