We are looking for a creative, proactive, and adaptable Senior Global Development Manager experienced in building strategic funding relationships and networks within an international organization to join our growing fundraising and communications team.

This is a new role within Forum and provides an opportunity to work as part of a team of passionate changemakers within a leading international sustainability non-profit. You will play a unique role in bringing together our fundraising and communications efforts, building relationships and profile among key US funders and partners, and will be joining the team at an exciting time of growth, with significant expansion in Asia and the US.

About the team

This role sits within Forum’s global Connect team which leads Forum’s fundraising, communications and marketing activities. Our aim is to raise our brand profile among key target audiences, build long-term funding relationships and grow income to drive systems change for sustainability.

 

About the role

You will lead on designing and implementing the US fundraising strategy and grow income for our programs around the world from major US-based foundations, corporations and individual philanthropists.

In addition, you will play a key role in supporting the US team in raising the profile of Forum among key target audiences, and in equipping and empowering philanthropic audiences in driving systemic change through delivery of engagement and fundraising events, communications and thought leadership. 

Based out of our office in Brooklyn with possibility of remote working in an eastern time zone, you will report to the Chief Development and Communications Officer in London and work closely with our international teams and with our dynamic US-based team.

 

About You

The Development Manager will be an experienced, intuitive and strategic relationship builder with excellent communication skills, able to leverage Forum’s funding relationships and networks, and to work effectively across a matrixed structure, geographies, and external partner organizations.

You will be creative and resilient with an adaptive mindset, able to support income growth, communications and organizational development within the context of ongoing change. You will also be a highly organised multi-tasker able to manage multiple priorities.

You will also bring an understanding of, and a passion for, the change we are trying to create.  

Your experience:

  • A significant track record of securing grants from US and international trusts and foundations, and donations from high net worth individual donors, preferably in the sustainability field
  • Extensive knowledge of the US philanthropic environment with experience of prospect research and funder pipeline development
  • Substantial income generation or business development background in an international organization, with at least some of that experience in a key decision-making role.
  • Experience in developing and delivering targeted communications strategies, and supporting the delivery of thought leadership.

You have a demonstrated ability to:

  • Network with senior leaders in philanthropic and corporate sectors.
  • Work independently across an emergent organization with a high degree of innovation, creativity, resilience and adaptability.
  • Successfully navigate complex relationships and multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Work with program staff to develop and write compelling, strategic proposals for funding and to report on existing grants.
  • Tell stories that inspire support and engage philanthropic audiences in acting on key issues.
  • Use a relationship management system (CRM) to drive fundraising success.
  • Coach and support others to build their own fundraising and communication skills.
  • Enable yourself and others to prioritise the right things, in the right way, at the right time.
