The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Senior Compensation & Benefits Specialist designs, implements, and administers the organization’s compensation strategies and manages the day-to-day administration of the total rewards program, ensuring alignment with the organization’s compensation philosophy, and market competitiveness, and compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations. The Senior Compensation & Benefits Specialist supports the employee benefits program administration, and identifies and recommends benefit plan design changes and cost savings opportunities, reviews benefits plan documents and communications, and assists with benefits administration and leave management.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer the organization’s total rewards program. Ensure base and incentive compensation program is current, competitive, and legally compliant.
  • Administer the organization’s compensation program including performing job analyses, writing job descriptions, conducting job evaluations, determining FLSA status, and reviewing external market comparisons.
  • Monitor the consistency and effectiveness of compensation policies, guidelines, and procedures. Identify, recommend, and implement revisions to ensure the salary program is affordable, cost effective, and consistent with compensation trends and organizational objectives.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day administration of the wage and salary administration program. Process base salary pay increases, e.g., promotions, market adjustments, internal equity adjustments, and review FLSA exemption status.
  • Assist managers with workforce planning and serve as a point of contact for new job descriptions and revisions to existing job descriptions.
  • Conduct job analyses and write job descriptions.
  • Conduct internal pay analyses. Recommend compensation offers for new hires.
  • Conduct job evaluations to ensure external market competitiveness and internal equity. Perform regular audits of teammate compensation to ensure regulatory compliance, (Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)) and pay equity.
  • Respond to select survey data requests. Analyze and communicate survey results to leadership and utilize results to ensure market competitiveness.
  • Monitor trends affecting pay and benefits and assess impact. Monitor market conditions and federal state and local governmental regulation changes to ensure compliance. Keep leadership informed and recommend changes as appropriate.
  • Perform statistical analysis to formulate recommendations for wages, bonuses, and annual merit budgets.
  • Review salary structures for parity in the marketplace, and recommend changes to leadership.
  • Prepare cost analyses overviews and make budget recommendations.
  • Administer the annual incentive process and process bonuses accurately and timely.
  • Ensure data integrity in Workday HRIS. 
  • Ensure annual and ongoing update of Total Rewards Statements.
  • Identify and recommend benefits plan design changes, cost savings opportunities and other efficiencies. Recommend cost control procedures to ensure maximum coverage at least possible cost to the organization and teammates.
  • Assist in review of benefits plans documents and communications and ensure accuracy.
  • Monitor benefit trends in the business environment while staying abreast of applicable benefits legislation.
  • Provide support to respond to employee inquiries on benefits and leaves of absence questions and serve as resource to employees to resolve issues.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and procedures.

  • Demonstrated understanding of wage and salary administration.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations e.g., FLSA, EEO, ERISA, ADEA, FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA, USERRA, Social Security, and workers’ compensation.
  • Advanced expertise using Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct statistical analyses and draw informed conclusions.
  • Strong analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze information, identify problems, and solve problems using effective solutions.

 EXPERIENCE

Requirements

  • Seven years of experience administering compensation programs including wage and salary administration and incentive compensation plans.
  • Seven years of experience developing, recommending, and implementing compensation plan strategies.
  • Five years of experience working with human resources information systems, e.g., Workday.
  • Three years of experience designing or administering employee benefits plans including health and welfare and 401(k) retirement plans, disability plans, and leave management.. 

EDUCATION

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree. Equivalent combination of applicable education, training, certification, or experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSURE

 Requirements

  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP).
