PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB:
Food Bank’s Director of Annual Giving provides leadership for the cross-channel cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of Food Bank’s donors. This individual also works with the Individual Giving Team to develop a digital and direct mail strategy that engages new donors, works with vendors to implement it, and cultivates and stewards a portfolio of high value donors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the leadership of the VP, Individual Giving Officer, the Director, Annual Giving will:
Provide day-to-day management and reporting of Food Bank’s Direct Response program;
Plan and execute both direct mail and digital fundraising campaigns;
Draft, edit and proofread copy as related to the direct response program, including emails and organizational newsletters;
Identify ways to leverage direct response marketing to support other external relations department including but not limited to business partnerships; marketing and communications and volunteer engagement;
Oversee response to inquiries from annual donors;
Work with Fundraising Operations to ensure acknowledgments are updated regularly and sent in a timely manner;
Work closely with Programs and Research Teams to make sure appeals have the most up-todate impact stats and accurately describe our work;
Keep abreast of direct response fundraising trends in order to continuously offer suggestions and ideas to help grow Food Bank’s donor base and keep current donors engaged;
Play a key role in developing the creative and solicitation strategies, including audience development and segmentation, for direct mail in coordination with Fundraising Operations, Marketing/Communications and Food Bank vendor(s);
Collaborate with Marketing/Communications to secure appeal content and ensure direct mail and special fundraising vehicle communications are integrated and on-brand;
Maintain a portfolio of annual donors;
Monitor incoming gifts to help initiate further engagement opportunities for major donor and Liberty Partner prospects;
Assist in stewardship activities including thank you call and personalized notes;
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Bachelor’s Degree;
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience working with direct mail and online fundraising.
Professional experience in non-profit development preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and work as part of a team;
Experience with Raiser’s Edge or comparable database; and
Commitment to social justice/hunger issues.
