Associate Vice Chancellor, Advancement Operations

The University of Denver (known as DU) invites nominations and applications for the Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) for Advancement Operations.

Founded in 1864, DU is the oldest independent university in the Rocky Mountain region. It has become one of the West’s premier private universities, and it plays an integral role in the cultural, social, economic, and educational life of the region, and increasingly beyond. The University is an independent, doctoral‐granting research university with high research activity and extensive global reach. U.S. News and World Report lists the University of Denver among the nation’s top 100 universities (#80). Thanks, in part, to its sound fiscal management, its outstanding faculty and high‐achieving students, and its growing stature nationally, the University has increasingly been regarded as a good investment for donors and philanthropists and is ranked among U.S. News and World Report’s best value schools (#58).

There are more than 144,500 active alumni worldwide. Notable DU alumni include former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice; former U.S. Army Chief of Staff General George Casey; former U.S. Secretary of the Interior Gale Norton; Time Magazine editor‐at‐large David Von Drehle; Olympic gold medalist Michelle Kwan; and Peter Coors, chairman of the board of MillerCoors.

The University of Denver’s advancement enterprise has had a tremendous impact through its relationships with DU’s remarkable students, dedicated donors, inspiring alumni, engaged families, and wonderful friends. DU is committed to building and fostering a culture of deep engagement and philanthropy in support of the institution as it implements the DU IMPACT 2025 vision. The University of Denver and DU Advancement deeply value inclusive excellence, recognizing that its success is dependent on how well it values, engages, and includes the rich diversity of constituents. You can learn more about inclusive excellence at the University of Denver by visiting The Cultural Center’s digital home. As a part of that effort, we are continuing to grow a team of collaborative, inquisitive, innovative, ethical, and transparent advancement professionals who value inclusivity and who possess a deep respect for one another and for our shared profession.

Reporting to the Senior Vice Chancellor for Advancement, the AVC will work with a community of talented professionals united to advance this mission, facilitating the internal services, processes, and systems required to build an inspiring culture of partnership, philanthropy and engagement. The AVC will bring world-class operational and strategic capacity to lead DU Advancement’s strategic management, operations, resource administration, and core services that support career and professional development, global engagement, and fundraising. As the chief organizational strategist for DU Advancement, this position will drive the overall efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of the advancement enterprise by enhancing the coherence and integration of core advancement functions, administering resources strategically and creatively, and cultivating a world-class team of talented advancement professionals.
