Summary

 

The International Spy Museum is a private nonprofit museum dedicated to educating the public about the world of espionage and intelligence through exhibits, educational programs, special events, and public outreach. Our development department seeks an energetic, experienced, and collaborative thought partner to develop and execute strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of corporate sponsors, major gifts, and other philanthropic giving. This position works closely with Museum leadership and is an ambassador for our organization.

Responsibilities

 

  • Develop and execute effective strategies to sustain and increase donor and sponsorship support for the Museum.
  • Work collaboratively with department and Museum staff to identify fundraising needs, design campaigns and create prospecting and marketing plans.

 

  • Identify donor prospects for the Museum’s fundraising priorities and effectively move prospects through the donor cycle.
  • Continuously steward relationships with donors to foster partnerships and support, including ensuring fulfilment of donor commitments.
  • Work with communications team to conceive and create compelling digital and printed communication materials and outreach campaigns.
  • Collaborate with Spy leadership, especially the President and Executive Director, in engaging with donors through tours, meetings and special events
  • Assess and reinvigorate the Museum’s corporate membership program
  • Oversee major annual fundraising event and several smaller donor events, from strategy to solicitation to logistics.
  • Some evening and weekend work expected for cultivation and networking events.

 

 

Education, Experience & Skills Required

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred
  • Seven to ten years of proven success in creating and managing a diverse fundraising portfolio, with preference for experience at a cultural institution or similar nonprofit
  • Demonstrated comfort engaging with corporate, philanthropic and high-net-worth donors and a track record of securing six-figure gifts
  • Exceptional project management skills, including deep understanding of tactical fundraising systems (e.g. prospect tracking and scheduling, CRM maintenance, etc.) essential
  • Experience with managing budgets and budget forecasting
  • Attention to detail, flexible self-starter
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or other prospect management system preferred
