Director of Development
The Director of Development is responsible for building and executing the fundraising strategy for the organization to maximize levels of contributed revenue.
Reporting to and in partnership with the CEO, the Development Director will lead all development initiatives. This is a new position; the successful candidate will have the opportunity to build the function and develop the organization’s fundraising strategy going forward.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute JFSGNH annual fundraising plan and devise a development calendar of supporting activities
- Manage CRM database, overseeing data input and ensuring timeliness and accuracy of reports and donor communications
- Solicit financial support from small, medium and large individual donors, as well as from corporations and foundations
- Devise strategies for donor stewardship, cultivation and retention
- Work in partnership with the Board of Directors to identify new prospects and to help define the role of the Board in fundraising initiatives
- Develop and implement a planned giving strategy
- Work in cooperation with the grant writer to identify and pursue government and foundation grant support; develop and track proposals and reports for all foundation, government and corporate fundraising
- In cooperation with Board representatives, oversee special events and identify opportunities for related corporate sponsorships
Qualifications:
- BA required, MA preferred
- Five-plus years development experience
- Demonstrated excellence in leadership and organizational skills, strategic thinking, oral and written communication, and attention to detail
- Knowledge of CRM database
- Scrupulous attention to confidentiality
This position, located in New Haven, is fully remote through the pandemic until safety no longer a concern.
