About World Vision

World Vision is an international partnership of Christians whose mission is to follow our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in working with the poor and oppressed to promote human transformation, seek justice, and bear witness to the good news of the Kingdom of God. Motivated by faith in Jesus Christ, World Vision staff serve alongside the poor and oppressed as a demonstration of God’s unconditional love for all people. World Vision serves all people, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender.

Globally, World Vision impacts the lives of over 100 million people each year. This is accomplished through 37,000 staff working in nearly 100 countries, with 95% living and working in their home regions. The organization works with communities to develop long-term solutions to alleviate poverty, provide emergency assistance to children and families affected by natural disasters and civil conflict, and advocate for justice on behalf of the poor.

World Vision’s staff and those they serve have partnered to achieve much in their 70-year history. From humble beginnings asking Christians in the United States to give $5 a month to sponsor a child, World Vision has grown to one of the leading and largest Christian humanitarian organizations in the world. Tirelessly advocating for the poor, empowering women and girls, challenging Christians and others to respond to the HIV/AIDS pandemic with compassion and financial support, bringing clean water to communities, teaching new agricultural techniques, protecting children from violence, helping mothers understand the importance of nutrition during pregnancy and throughout childhood, advocating for and meeting the needs of refugees, and helping grow family income through economic empowerment are only a few examples of World Vision’s depth and breadth.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Transformational Engagement with a close partnership (dotted-line) with the President, the Vice President, Philanthropy (VPP) will inspire people to achieve stretching fundraising targets through love, grace and Christ-like accountability.  The VPP will inspire a team of over 30 fundraising professionals (across three regions) who are committed to securing significant gifts from High Net Worth donors, foundations, and corporations.  The team is raising approximately $130 million a year with an annual growth rate of seven percent. The expectation is to achieve 15-20% annual revenue growth during the next five years and to increase the average gift.  The new VPP will also inspire a 200-person National Leadership Council of faithful donors and supporters to secure transformational gifts from existing and new high net worth donors.

The VPP will provide the vision, leadership, strategic direction and alignment across the organization with a focus on successfully completing our current $1 Billion capital campaign while envisioning the next campaign, by building strong partnerships with Program Quality Impact, Mass Marketing, and Product Marketing.

This is an extraordinary opportunity, and this individual will build upon numerous strengths. The team is long-tenured, effective fundraisers, and has developed deep relationships with individual and institutional donors. The donor file is large, comprehensive, and segmented yet there is tremendous room to cultivate relationships with new and current high net worth donors. World Vision uses Microsoft CRM and has strong systems and performance benchmarks that drive accountability and results. World Vision’s vision is inspiring, its mission bold and its people collegial. Edgar Sandoval, the ministry’s President and CEO, wants to ‘point people to the nature and character of God, and in doing so, they will find it irresistible to walk with the poor, to step into mutual transformation, and to serve the most vulnerable children in the name of Jesus Christ.
