MoveOn is a diverse and vibrant community of millions of people working together to create progressive change in America. We are an innovative campaigning organization that supports people throughout the country to take action through driving impactful campaigns that influence the behavior of people and institutions, shape the outcomes of elections, and expand the realities of what’s possible. We organize to challenge entrenched power, while pursuing economic, racial, and social justice and a vision of a country in which everyone can thrive.

MoveOn has a vital role to play in securing progress during the Biden-Harris administration and in organizing the grassroots to set up election wins in 2021, 2022, and beyond. We are building a powerful, multiracial, and economic populist movement, and fighting for progress on health care, climate, racial justice and more. In service of that mission, in 2021 and beyond, MoveOn will drive impactful, movement-connected, multichannel, nimble campaigns aimed at impact.

MoveOn is seeking a collaborative and resourceful Philanthropy Manager to strengthen our healthy major-donor, growing middle-donor, and stable foundation programs. MoveOn’s major-donor fundraising, initiated in 2015, is a valuable asset to financially sustain MoveOn in meeting the escalating challenges of this historical moment, raising tens of millions in six years while complying with the highest levels of transparency and reporting. The Philanthropy Manager will help support the next phase of growth as we seek to strengthen a growing program that continues to complement MoveOn’s range of fundraising methods.

Responsibilities

Oversee donor database: data entry, database management, weekly reporting, and team metrics. Manage accurate and timely gift fulfillment: invoicing, payment follow-up, composing acknowledgement letters for the Executive Director, and drafting Unanimous Written Consent for the Board of Directors.  Support donor/foundation activities through producing prospect research, grant writing, grant tracking/reporting, and stewardship. Work with Director of Philanthropy to develop and grow Planned Giving program. Provide central coordination of internal team calendar and external donor calendar, as well as support for meeting facilitation.

A successful candidate will ...

Manage and optimize development operational processes to ensure team is well coordinated, strategic, and productive, ultimately increasing revenue. Maintain data and resources for team’s activities, including identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, tracking, and reporting. Possess professionalism, patience, positivity, flexibility, organization, and calm under fire in the midst of our battles to defend our democracy and defend our core values from unprecedented attacks. Be in sync with the entirety of the organization to strategically advise and support the Development team. MoveOn is a virtual organization, with staff working remotely from across the country, so being able to keep work moving regardless of physical location is essential.

Required skills and experience

A minimum of 2+ years of fundraising/philanthropy experience. Exceptional organizational skills with an emphasis on attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects under competing deadlines. Strong relationship building, communication skills, and professionalism, especially with the Executive team and high-net-worth individuals. Results-oriented, with the ability to take ownership of staying on a timeline and reaching goals while ensuring accuracy. Fluency in G Suite (Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, etc.), Salesforce, Slack, and Zoom.
