Let your charitable connections guide you here.

The largest guide dog school in North America, Guide Dogs for the Blind relies on our philanthropic donors to help us achieve our important mission. We’re looking for an informed and results-oriented self-starter to join us at our San Rafael campus as Planned Giving Officer.

In this key role, you will identify, cultivate, and solicit new planned giving intentions, steward donors who have already included GDB in their estate plans, and ensure that all Legacy Society members receive proper and appropriate recognition. Your duties will include:

  • Educating constituents about the benefits of planned giving
  • Preparing planned gift proposals on various types of charitable giving vehicles
  • Develop and maintain a portfolio of planned giving prospects and existing donors
  • Maintain high visibility among estate planners and other professionals
  • Help manage the production of planned giving publications, web content, and other materials
  • Identify prospective major gift donors within Legacy membership and develop an appropriate strategy for cultivation and solicitation

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree, gift planning, or financial experience a plus
  • 3-5 years’ experience in planned giving
  • Demonstrated competencies in developing and maintaining quality relationships with a portfolio of constituents
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Compliance with all professional, legal, and ethical guidelines related to fundraising
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge database a plus

What sets us apart?

  • We are a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization supported entirely by private donations, so your expertise will be valued and recognized.
  • You’ll enjoy being part of our small but mighty team of Development experts as you brainstorm and discover new ways to attract donors.
  • You’ll feel personal pride in supporting our mission that means so much to so many.
  • You’ll work with passionate people across GDB who are invested in each other and provide support.
  • Our generous benefits package includes medical/dental/vision/life/disability insurance, 403(b), generous paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and great wellness perks like yoga, circuit training, and an onsite gym.
  • You can bring your dog to work!
