The National Service Office is the central operational engine for two evidence-based programs: Nurse-Family Partnership and Child First. In 2020, what was formally the National Service Office solely for Nurse-Family Partnership joined forces with Child First, a merger empowering two proven models to share complementary expertise, infrastructure and integrated services. The resulting unified entity works to ensure that healthcare, early childhood development, and the mental wellness of the entire family are served in proven ways to achieve tong-term positive outcomes.

 

Position Description

This position supports the fundraising goals of the National Service Office for Nurse-Family Partnership and Child First and contributes to the success of the organization’s multi-year scaling and strategic plans. This position will focus on developing and implementing engagement and fundraising strategies to enhance and grow revenue and the community of support across all constituencies. The Donor Relations Manager is responsible for creation of cultivation and stewardship collateral, planning and executing all Philanthropy events, and assistance with supporting prospect research and qualification strategies.

 

Success will require an individual who has varied experience across multiple functions in Philanthropy, performs well under pressure, is skilled at managing multiple projects simultaneously, and is adept at working independently and collaboratively with multiple partners and stakeholders. Creativity and the ability to bring new ideas with thoughtfulness and enthusiasm, as well as a strong customer service orientation are essential attributes for this role.

 

This position reports to the Director, Individual Giving and may work anywhere in the United States.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

70%     Strategic Initiatives

  • Collaboratively develop and coordinate an annual donor communications plan that complements planned solicitation campaigns. Incorporate philanthropy messaging and communications into the comprehensive organizational communications calendar.
  • Develop and implement the Donor Recognition Plan in accordance with donor wishes. Utilizing analytical tools such as Giving DNA and CRM reports, identify opportunities to cultivate and steward donors across all constituencies en masse or by segments based on giving history, interest areas, geography, etc. Work closely with relationship managers to develop customized cultivation and stewardship opportunities for donors or prospects.
  • Manage all Philanthropy pages and presence on the website, providing regular updates that contain pertinent and compelling information that deepens donors’ and prospects’ engagement and understanding of the impact of gifts made to the organization.
  • Support and advocate a philanthropy presence on all organizational social media platforms with the goal of name acquisition to build the donor file, cultivate new prospects and steward current donors.
  • Help identify philanthropic stories and messaging to be leveraged through public relations. In turn, identify and circulate stories to share with in various ways with donors and prospects.
  • Coordinate with Philanthropy team members to create and design a library of “off-the-shelf” written/printed collateral and gift opportunities used to cultivate and steward donors and prospects, including quarterly donor impact reports, acknowledgement letter templates, general and specific cases for support, gift opportunities, program overview one-pagers, client and nurse stories, and other collateral.
  • Recommend volunteer opportunities unique to donors and prospects who wish to engage more deeply with the organization; work with relationship managers to bring these opportunities to donors. Identify opportunities to utilize parent volunteers to cultivate and steward donors and prospects. Support the National Board of Directors Advancement Committee needs, activities and nominations as requested.
  • Assist in identifying and coordinating with Executive team members or other organizational leadership to strategically engage directly with individual or institutional donors and prospects in the cultivation, solicitation or stewardship process.
  • Help develop and release regular donor surveys to identify and track interest areas, engagement opportunities and donor satisfaction. Serve as team lead for experience management tool Qualtrics.
  • Coordinate ordering and regular refresh (as needed) of general Philanthropy collateral and supplies, including organizational stationery, notecards, brochures, bookmarks, and other items used to cultivate, solicit and steward donors and prospects.

 

20%     Event Planning and Implementation

  • Conceive of and coordinate donor and prospect engagement events of various types and sizes, including in-person and virtual events, as well as assisting Relationship Managers in planning and execution of regional events.
  • Coordinate the participation of donors and prospects in organization-sponsored or events initiated by other departments and/or partners.
  • Create and manage Philanthropy event plan and calendar; develop best practices and disseminate to relevant staff (e.g. checklist tools, templates, FAQs, etc.).
  • Collaborate with Philanthropy colleagues to coordinate all aspects of pre, post and day of event coordination, including (but not limited to) budget creation, vendor selection and management, site/location selection, invitations, sponsorships, event collateral and coordination of all event logistics; coordinate necessary contracts and insurance with legal department.
  • Work closely with event hosts and other volunteers, as well as coordinate relevant internal team, to maximize each event opportunity.
  • Manage all lists, mailings, and RSVP tracking in the fundraising database.
  • Prepare reports on outcomes and return on investment as needed.
  • Support organizational events as needed.

 

10%     Prospect Qualification

  • Work with Philanthropy Operations Manager to implement strategic engagement techniques for research-rated suspects and prospects that support qualification and upgrading, including cold-calls, emails, surveys, virtual events, etc. to help qualify donors for placement in Major Gift portfolios.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a philanthropically supported non-profit organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively as a member of a team, ensuring close coordination and integration with other staff members.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, customer service and phone manner, as well as strong oral and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to represent sophisticated and dynamic programs.
  • Strong listening skills to identify key information to deepen and advance relationships with prospects and donors.
  • Strong writing skills, particularly with producing effective fundraising materials that successfully present persuasive, donor-centric arguments for support.
  • A successful track record working with volunteers and senior staff.
  • Proficiency with fundraising database programs.
  • Computer proficiency with various Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Self-motivated; demonstrated creativity and problem-solving skills and ability to perform successfully without regular supervision.
  • Goal-oriented, organizational skills, ability to multi-task, meet multiple deadlines, and excellent attention to detail in all aspects of work.
  • Ethical compliance with fundraising best practices, as defined by the Association for Fundraising Professionals.
  • High integrity and commitment to personal and professional excellence.

  • Ability to travel approximately 10-25% percent of the time

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position reports to the Director, Individual Giving and has no direct reports.

 

Salary

  • Salary is determined based on experience and skill set. Geographical adjustments will be considered.
  • Range: $50,000 - $64,500/year
