The Director for Grants manages external funding awards made to Harford Community College to support and enhance the College’s Strategic Plan and other priorities.

The Director’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Establishing and maintaining partnerships with the President’s Cabinet, deans, faculty teams, development, finance and other members of the campus community to identify federal, state, and foundation grants.
  • Working with the College’s federal grants consultant, campus community and external partners to craft and submit grant applicants and ensure compliance with awarded funds.
  • Performing administrative activities including identifying funding sources, acquiring funding, setting program policies and objectives and allocating resources.
  • Ensuring project/division milestones and strategic plan objectives are met.
  • Identifying academic and administrative areas with potential to secure grant funding.

 Other duties include researching funding opportunities; assembling project teams; establishing timelines for pre-award and post award delivery; compiling documentation; writing and submitting proposals; reviewing narratives; developing grant budgets; developing and enforcing reporting procedures for projects funded with grant awards; maintaining knowledge of federal/state laws and regulations; and maintaining records.

The Grants Office is expected to provide prompt, seamless assistance to internal and external partners.

This is an exempt, administrator position.

A bachelor’s degree in business, education, public administration or a closely-related field is required.

Five to seven years of experience planning and implementing grants is required, to include:

  • Experience in Grants Management to include pre-award and post-award.
  • Developed or maintained grant systems: i.e. tracking awards, grant’s spend down, PI/grant manager accountability, time and effort reporting, close out procedures.
  • Experience with researching and seeking grant opportunities-foundations, federal, state and local.
  • Experience with sub-award agreements.

Other requirements include:

  • Compliance knowledge to include work with Uniform Guidance for federal grants.
  • Excellent writing, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple-stakeholders (leadership, faculty, staff) to achieve tangible goals for pre-award and post-award.

Higher Education or K-12 (Perkins) experience preferred.
