The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) seeks a Special Events Manager to support the Director of Alumni Relations and Special Events in planning and implementation of high-quality public events, presidential functions, ceremonies, and other special occasions that advance the mission of the University. The Events Manager works with the Office of the President, Provost, Deans, Development team, and other members of the campus community to collaboratively plan and execute large scale events and university functions, including but not limited to board meetings, groundbreaking and ribbon-cutting ceremonies, check presentations, scholarship events, faculty and staff events, student events, and other events that require high-level planning due to the nature of the guest list, and/or require special consideration due to safety or security concerns. The Events Manager establishes and maintains consistently high standards, ensuring adherence to branding and appropriate presentation so that all UAH events ensure an enduring positive image. Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate their own etiquette skills is necessary.

The ideal candidate must have superb organizational, planning, and logistical skills along with experience/knowledge of event management and academic protocol. Must be able to work collaboratively with internal and external constituents maintaining extraordinary customer service. Must have the ability to manage complex and multiple projects along with experience in financial management and budget reporting. The Events Manager must maintain the exemplary image of the University. This position also requires management of the Lancer student public relations representatives who are ambassadors of the University. The Events Manager is the sole person responsible for planning and implementing all event logistics as well as in-person management at all events. This role will work with the Alumni Relations and Special Events team for vision/guidance. Additionally, the incumbent will work with other internal departments and external vendors to carry out the successful execution of events. Experience in logistical management and policy/legal contracts is a plus.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's Degree / 3-5 years full-time verifiable administrative operation management / must have previous experience coordinating special events and projects / excellent communication skills are required / polished interpersonal skills and appearance is required / must have experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Desired Qualifications

Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Hospitality, Higher Ed or related field / University experience is preferred / academic special events management experience is  desired / must have a thorough understanding of functional business, government and international protocol / experience in a fund-raising environment is preferred / experience with SCT Banner,  Sage Millennium Database, Event Management Software - Social Tables and Constant Contact is  desired / Certified Administrative Professional and CPR/First Aid Certification preferred.
