Job Summary:

The Fundraising Coordinator of the Women’s Committee is a key member of a results-oriented team who will support the Tulips and Daffodils and Conservancy Docents programs and their volunteer committees as well as offer general support to the Women’s Committee office. They will oversee aspects of the Tulip and Daffodil program including coordinating online promotions, printing requested certificates, processing payments and scheduling committee meetings. They will also serve as the facilitator to the Conservancy Docents who will schedule Conservancy Docent meetings and tours and assist with the planning of the annual Insider’s Event in the spring. The Coordinator will work alongside a dedicated Conservancy team to ensure the productivity and efficiency of the department. Responsibilities include but are not limited to day-to-day administrative, support to the Executive Director and Women’s Committee team, gift processing and donor acknowledgments. The Coordinator will also handle the coordination of the Board meetings.

 

The ideal candidate will possess strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills, experience with fundraising software, Raiser’s Edge a plus, exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, and be able to handle a multitude of activities and confidential matters with discretion.

 

Summary of Essential Job Functions:

  • Supports the volunteer Chair/Co-Chairs of each Committee, to reach program goals. Organizes, creates agendas, attends and records notes at regularly scheduled meetings of the program’s Committee. Writing of speaking points is often required.
  • Coordinates all aspects of email promotions in collaboration with the Communications Department to increase program revenue.
  • Executes all administrative tasks including processing of donations, database administration, tax receipts, creation of marketing materials, record keeping, etc. as it pertains to managing the fundraising program.
  • Assists team members with gift processing and donation acknowledgments.
  • Works cooperatively with internal and external contacts such as Women’s Committee volunteer President, CPC Senior management, Board members, donors, Operations and field staff, and vendors.
  • Prepares biweekly program financial and activity reports for Board and Committee meetings.
  • Provides administrative support to the Women’s Committee Executive Director, including managing purchase orders, scheduling meetings, maintaining supply inventory, reconciling credit card expenses.
  • Assists the Women’s Committee team with day-of support for various fundraising events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 1-3 years fundraising/development experience.
  • Familiarity with and passion for Central Park and the outdoors essential to this position.
  • Ability to work effectively with high-profile volunteers.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Self-starter.
  • Strong business writing and communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.) and Raiser’s Edge.
  • Ability to work occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Must have valid Driver’s license and be comfortable driving in Manhattan and Central Park.

About the Women’s Committee

The Women’s Committee is a community of Central Park philanthropists with a passion for preserving and enhancing Central Park. With a membership of 1,000 the Women’s Committee has provided invaluable support and raises critical funds for the general operations of the Park. Since its inception in 1983, the Women’s Committee has raised over $195 million.

The Committee is responsible for the management of many Park-wide programs, including: Adopt-A-Bench, Conservancy Docents, Gilder Run paving stone program, Olmsted Visionaries planned giving program, Perimeter Association, Playground Partners, Tree Trust, and Tulips & Daffodils.

About the Programs: Tulips & Daffodils and Conservancy Docents

Through the Tulips & Daffodils Program donors can have tulips or daffodils planted in Central Park (minimum donation of $50; $1 per bulb) in honor of someone special. For the donation, the person being honored will receive an eCard or a certificate with the date of the gift. Wherever you see tulips or daffodils, you will know that yours are among them. 

The Conservancy Docents conduct specialized tours of Central Park for potential donors to give them a better understanding of and appreciation for the variety and splendor of the Park. Committee members train and act as docents creating informative and entertaining walking, van, and golf cart tours of the horticulture, history, and sites of interest throughout the Park. Donations from tour recipients is suggested, when appropriate.
