Executive Director’s purpose

MSDA Charitable & Educational Foundation (MSDAF) is the 501(c)3 charitable branch of the Maryland State Dental Association. The MSDA Foundation’s mission is to improve the oral health of Marylanders through education and support of programs that improve access to dental care.

The Executive Director serves as the lead facilitator for organizing direction and tasks of MSDAF, supporting the MSDAF board of directors, overseeing and recruiting any MSDAF staff, and performing day-to-day tasks of the organization.

 

Duties and responsibilities

· Identify and act upon the will of the MSDAF board of directors

· Ensure the goals of the strategic plan are continuously completed, updated, and reviewed

· Confer with and advise the MSDAF BOD about the budget and strategic plan

· Understand the relationship between the MSDA and MSDAF

· Act as the lead liaison between MSDAF and the Maryland State Dental Association

· Advise and manage organizational decisions in the MSDAF

· Manage the MSDAF staff and their duties including working remotely

· Support the staff in taking continuing education courses in appropriate areas that will support the MSDAF

· Partner with MSDAF staff for all MSDAF events, including continuing education courses, social events, and charitable events

· Ensure the board of directors are fully supported in their various duties

· Empower the MSDAF and BOD in their duties and activities

· Continue the programs of supporting the MSDAF BOD in their activities

· Support the development of staff and BOD in their fundraising activities

· Remain closely acquainted with all parts of the organization to ensure continued success in all respects. For example, monitoring the budget to identify if numbers are being met or exceeded

· Raise funds through sponsorship programs, grants, item sales, donor cultivation, etc.

· Enhance MSDAF impact through programs such as the scholarship, Missions of Mercy, or other outreach

· Continuously analyze the organization to identify and seize upon new opportunities which will further MSDAF’s progress toward reaching its goals. Examples may include identifying new events that will increase membership, strategizing leadership training protocols, or new charitable programs

· Develop and maintain partnerships with organizations that drive toward the success of our goals

· Organize, attend, and complete all written materials and minutes for organization meetings

· Perform evening and weekend work, including the execution of various events

· Develop and implement communication protocols which will raise awareness and participation

· Fortify the credibility of the organization through effective money management, planning, ethics, and policy development/compliance

· Maintain a master calendar for the MSDAF, which contains: 1. All scheduled activities 2. Routinely recurring activities and duties and names of responsible individuals 3. Governance dictated responsibilities

· Update the BOD, at least every other month, on the status of: 1. MSDAF projects 2. Committee activities 3. Fundraising

· Research and suggest continuing education opportunities for BOD/Committee members

 

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in any field (With preference given to public health, business, public administration, or other relating fields), however

· Education may be substituted for experience, and will be considered on an individual basis

· Professional and friendly demeanor and presentation

· Strong record keeping and organizational skills

 

Compensation

$60,000 - $70,000Additional compensation available with a proven record of fundraising.
