POSITION
TITLE: Fundraising Consultant
REPORTS
DIRECTLY TO: Executive Director
LOCATION: Virtual, with preference for applicants in ET/CT
time zones
The Community Justice Action Fund (CJAF), a project of Tides Advocacy, is a nonprofit organization building power for and with communities of color to end gun violence. We were formed by activists and survivors of gun violence to help support and empower communities directly impacted by violence. CJAF focuses full-time on building power and infrastructure to end gun violence in communities of color. We do this by creating organizing and communications strategies that engage and empower communities that are most impacted by gun violence. The Community Justice Action Fund is seeking an experienced Fundraising Consultant to support the organization’s overall development strategy and coordinate fundraising efforts. Responsibilities for this position involve managing all donor prospecting, including but not limited to: identifying, initiating introductions, and building relationships with key foundations, corporations, and individual donors. The ideal candidate would have a demonstrated record of success in securing major contributions from a range of sources, and possess extensive knowledge of, and connections in the gun violence prevention space and philanthropic community. The Fundraising Consultant will work 20 hours per month, with a flexible schedule, on an initial contract of 3 months to be reassessed quarterly. S/he/they will report to, and work closely with the Executive Director and as well as the Director of Culture and Administration. Responsibilities:

Work with the Executive Director to initiate and build
relationships with foundations, corporations, and individual
donors, and secure funding.
Work with the Director of Culture to develop a
multi-pronged fundraising plan with the goal of a consistent and/or
multi year revenue stream.
Act as lead on prospect and donor research.
Assist with list building of tier 1 foundation and
corporate prospects.
Manage and track all donor information, and help with
relationship maintenance for current and prospective
donors
Assist with grant writing and research for potential
proposals.
Assist The ED and DCA in finding sponsors for special
events throughout the year.
As needed, assist with outgoing proposals and reports
to prospective funders, including drafting materials in partnership
with CJAF programmatic staff

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
At least 5 years of professional experience in the
development field, preferably in the nonprofit/advocacy sector.
A proven record of securing major contributions from
foundations, corporations, and additional sources; experience
working for nonprofit organizations of similar scope and size as
the Community Justice Action Fund.
Extensive knowledge of, and connections in, the
nonprofit philanthropic community.
Proven experience of having cultivated existing donor
relationships over time.
