Reports to: Deputy CEO/Executive Director, AASLD Foundation

 

Come join the leading organization of professionals committed to preventing and curing liver disease as the Director of Development.  The American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) is seeking a collaborative leader to develop the strategy, planning, and organizing of the fundraising and development programs and integrate the strategic development of initiatives across the organization.  This position is located in Alexandria, VA.

 

The Director of Development will lead the strategy for and oversee the implementation of the AASLD/AASLD Foundation's (AASLD/F) fundraising program.  Additionally, this role will oversee and manage the implementation of targeted solicitation strategies for the AASLD/F’s fundraising efforts in annual giving, major gifts, private foundation, and corporate giving, planned giving, and comprehensive campaigns.  The Director will solicit grant support for research and travel awards and solicit corporate support for the AASLD/F’s initiatives.

 

Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant area (or equivalent work experience in a related field) plus a minimum of six years of experience in a similar role.  This position requires a certification in the area of expertise (e.g., CAE, CPA, PMP, CMP, etc.) and knowledge of key programmatic, operational, and financial issues and priorities.  AASLD seeks individuals with experience in direct fundraising, growing and managing a portfolio of corporate and individual donors, grant writing, and special events.  Advanced knowledge of Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge database, including Luminate Online, Wealth Point/Target Analytics is required.  A Certified Fundraising Executive is preferred.
