Director, Parent Giving - 500155
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Development (AVP), the Director of Parent Giving is responsible for the overall management of the parent giving program at the University of Richmond. Working with the AVP, the Director will set and achieve annual program metrics to advance and increase philanthropic resources for the university.
The Director will also collaborate closely with frontline fundraisers to oversee parent philanthropic engagement, including direct management of the President’s Parents Leadership Council (PPLC.) In addition to the AVP and frontline fundraising staff, the Director will partner with the Vice President of Advancement, Director of Major Giving and Gift Planning, Director of Principal Giving, Prospect Research, as well as other senior university administrators to enhance philanthropic outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Manage an assigned portfolio of current and past parents rated at
the leadership, major, and principal gift level. Identify, qualify,
cultivate, solicit, close, and steward prospects for leadership,
major, and principal level gifts. (50%)
* Develop, manage, and coordinate the PPLC including relevant
events and communications. This includes at least two, annual
on-campus PPLC meetings, multiple “Welcome to the Web” events
during the summer, and associated events surrounding Commencement
and first-year orientation. (25%)
* Direct all aspects of parent giving program, including
formulating and implementing strategies for short- and long-term
fundraising outcomes, devising performance metrics, and closely
coordinating parent engagement with senior university and Office of
Advancement leadership as well as frontline fundraising staff.
The
Director of Parent Giving also ensures compliance with prospect
management guidelines for data entry and metric tracking. (25%)
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Demonstrated record of soliciting and closing five, six, and
seven figure philanthropic gifts.
* Ability to exercise good judgment, demonstrate an understanding
of the ethical principles associated with working in development,
and to use discretion in interactions with members of the
University of Richmond community.
* Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, along with the
ability to work with diverse internal and external
constituencies.
* Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team
environment with a high degree of collegiality; honesty and
transparency.
* Strong written, communication, organizational, and analytical
skills.
* Experience managing high-level donor events is preferred.
* Skill in the use of Microsoft office and fund-raising software
applications, including database management.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
* A Bachelor's degree is required; Master’s degree is
preferred.
* A minimum of six to eight years’ fundraising experience with a
proven track record of success; development experience working with
parents in higher education is preferred
