Job Summary

The Associate Director of Development for the School of Medicine’s Office of Gift Development and Alumni Relations is responsible for identifying donor prospects and cultivating relationships. This position will cultivate, manage, and steward the School of Medicine’s Dean’s Council donors and its Board of Directors, a volunteer group charged with raising funds and awareness for the school. This position is also responsible for campaign management that includes all School of Medicine reunion fundraising activities for at least eight alumni classes celebrating milestone anniversaries annually. Other campaign management responsibilities will also include mentor campaigns, third party campaigns and memorial campaigns as needed.

- Identifies donor prospects, cultivates relationships and maintains meaningful and consistent contact with both prospects and donors. Develops and implements plans and campaigns to sustain and increase donations.  Communicates effectively with appropriate university personnel and stakeholders and collaborates on fundraising initiatives.

- Identifies new prospects, cultivates relationships, and manages a portfolio and/or region of donors building a pipeline for solicitation.

- Executes plans and designs campaigns to sustain and increase donations.

- Collaborates with development colleagues university-wide to align prospects/donors' interests with university funding needs and opportunities.

- Maintains meaningful and consistent contact with potential donors to communicate university goals and solicit their support.

- Introduces campus/school fundraisers to appropriate gift prospects for cultivation.

- Documents communications, analyzes data, evaluates success and makes recommendations for change to campaign strategy.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of experience in fundraising/development, sales, communications, public relations, a higher education foundation, or a related field.

Combinations of education and related experience may be considered.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. Ability to navigate around campus, to other IU locations, and donor-specific events as needed. Ability to navigate occasional travel when normal business conditions resume. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
