The Executive Vice President Development (EVPD) position will continue the buildout of our development pipeline, cultivate relationships with existing donors and prospects  to enhance our philanthropic support in the community and grow our base of supporters. The EVPD will qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward principal gifts prospects, aligning benefactor interests with the strategic objectives of the Foundation. This position will manage our portfolio of prospective principal benefactors and develop and implement strategies for gifts of $500,000 and above.

The EVPD will be a highly experienced development professional with demonstrated ability to establish and maintain engagement with principal and major gift donors and prospects and effective working relationships with Foundation leaders, administration, and staff. Working closely with the CEO, the EVPD will move donors through the various cycles of giving and work with Leadership to achieve solicitation metrics. The successful candidate will create operational SOP’s with the COO to ensure proper documentation, acknowledgment and recognition for principal giving and execute a comprehensive development plan with goals and objectives. Coordinating with the Director of Communications, this position will maximize use of Foundation events and brand messaging campaigns to expand constituencies. The EVPD will serve as an effective spokesperson and representative for the Foundation.

A bachelor's degree is required. A minimum of ten years' experience in qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of benefactors; a track record of securing seven and eight figure gifts, cultivating relationships that have resulted in successive gifts; and a demonstrated track record of cultivating and advancing relationships with principal benefactors as demonstrated by securing repeat principal gifts. Candidate must be a self-motivated, self-directed and highly organized individual who will promote a productive, collegial workplace, be comfortable with different constituent groups and be an effective ambassador for the Foundation, Belief in the mission and strong ethical conduct are essential. Ability to work collaboratively with staff to build consensus towards best outcomes will be critical to success. Willingness to travel.

Requires excellent oral and written communications skills, comfortable meeting with people from all backgrounds and sharing the mission of the Foundation effectively. Has the ability to work in a complex environment with multidimensional points of view. The candidate must be able to work effectively in a consensus-style operation that expects and promotes teamwork. Must be comfortable with ambiguity. Must possess the ability to inspire trust and confidence and communicate effectively with internal and external audiences. The ability to work independently, managing multiple projects and maintaining a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality is essential. Must be proficient in the use of information technology and management of database systems.
