Fundraising Events Director

The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Fundraising Events Director leads the development and execution of the peer-to-peer fundraising strategy, including WWP’s signature 5K series, live-streaming and gaming, and community fundraising events. Fundraising Events Director promotes fundraising projects, and provides oversight to the Fundraising Events team to meet overall department and organizational revenue goals.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, promote, and execute the WWP peer-to-peer fundraising strategy.
  • Provide leadership and management to the peer-to-peer fundraising team members including selecting, developing, and managing a highly functional team and ensuring high performance.
  • Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate support and efforts from various WWP departments for all peer-to-peer fundraising events.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to maximize fundraising events.
  • Work directly with marketing and communications to help strengthen brand recognition and affinity.
  • Represent WWP and speak to business audiences, organizations, corporate executives, and donors.
  • Develop, manage, and approve budget and departmental expenses.
  • Generate revenue and maximize return on investment from peer-to-peer fundraising events.
  • Work closely with internal and external teams to align peer to peer fundraising event goals, objectives, and specific implementation plans that promote the organization’s mission and brand.
  • Build volunteer support for peer-to-peer fundraising events.
  • Stay apprised of trends within peer-to-peer fundraising and adapt to meet or stay ahead of trends.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Proven track record of exceeding fundraising goals

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze facts and integrate data in support of strategic growth and change.
  • Strong presentation skills with ability to develop presentations and confidently present information individuals and groups.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of meeting and event planning principles, requirements, procedures, and available resources.
  • Exceptional organizational, planning, and tracking skills with superior attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel as needed in support of the mission and needs of the organization.
  • Proven track record of success in building, leading, and managing a large internal team.
  • Proven track record of success in building and maintaining strong external relationships and partnerships.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multiple outside vendors and committees.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.  Demonstrated ability to build and maintain successful and effective relationships.
  • Demonstrated success leading, coaching, and mentoring teams for results. Proven management skills that foster an open dialog with staff. Ability to remain flexible and work within a collaborative and team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize, delegate responsibility, and ensure deadlines are met. Effectively prioritize and manage multiple priorities with a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of budget management.
  • Demonstrated initiative to drive team and organizational performance goals, effectively troubleshoot and problem solve, identify innovative solutions, and facilitate continued growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish credibility, be decisive, influence others, and influence change.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Wounded Warrior Project and its mission, values, programs, and services, and the impact of these programs and services on wounded warriors and their families.
  • High energy level, self-starter, and willing to take initiative.

EXPERIENCE Requirements:

  • Seven years of experience with peer-to-peer fundraising events.
  • Seven years of staff management experience.
EDUCATION Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree. Equivalent combination of applicable education, training, certification, or experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
