Philanthropic Advisor (Major Gift Officer)

Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, the Philanthropic Advisor works to build relationships between Silver Hill Hospital and prospective major donors, primarily individuals and families.  The advisor will work to qualify the interest of promising prospective donors, building a portfolio of approximately 120 households and managing the hospital’s relationship with donors who have the potential to make six- or seven-figure gifts.

 The advisor will reach out to promising prospective donors, most notably grateful patients and families, to invite their philanthropic support and encourage their involvement with the Hospital.   

Required:

Bachelor's degree

Ten years of professional experience, with at least four years of experience in an outward-facing role engaging with high-net worth individuals

Entrepreneurial spirit and proven ability to work independently

Fundraising experience and/or experience selling intangible products or services

Strong emotional intelligence, sensitivity, and listening skills

Eagerness to learn and openness to coaching

Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and with colleagues across an organization

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

Mature judgement and experience working with complex, goal-driven individuals

Ability to manage one’s time well, while being part of a highly productive office environment

Helpful/Preferred:

Experience soliciting and closing six- and seven- figure gifts, ideally as part of a large, well-established major-gift program.

Experience managing volunteers

Knowledge of/ experience with gift planning vehicles

Adaptability, fearlessness, patience, and perseverance

Essential Functions

Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospective major donors

Facilitate the strengthening of donors’ relationships with Silver Hill Hospital

Secure appointments, draft briefings and proposals
