Director of Development Communications
The American Enterprise Institute is searching for a strategic fundraiser who cares deeply about our mission to serve as a writer, editor, and development team leader. As director of development communications, you will lead and mentor a team dedicated to explaining and marketing AEI scholars’ research to America’s leading philanthropists. You will focus on conceptualizing, drafting, and editing written proposals, reports, collateral materials, and other communications for individual, foundation, and corporate donors across the range of AEI’s scholarly areas. You’ll build a reputation for being a trusted partner of AEI scholars and executives and will develop a keen sense of how to best showcase AEI’s research and impact to the generous investors who make it possible. You will also edit and shape the work of others on the broader development team to ensure consistent voice.
Candidates for this position will have an aptitude for strategic leadership coupled with strong project management skills and exceptional writing and fundraising capabilities. We believe the skill and experience level we are looking for is best achieved with over 10 years of professional writing or communications experience in a think tank, business, or other relevant organization. Experience working directly with funders is strongly preferred. Deep familiarity with AEI’s work and passion for our mission is essential.
