Position Overview:
This exciting opportunity offers the ability to make a significant impact at an established independent school to advance teaching and learning. A key player in developing and managing a portfolio of donors and prospects, each with an estimated capacity to give $5,000 or more, the Major Gifts Officer is responsible for qualifying new prospects and building relationships, and will participate in soliciting annual, major, and planned gifts from donors/prospects in the portfolio. This position will spend a significant amount of time directly interacting with donors as a relationship manager both in and out of the office, tapping donors' passions and interests to inspire their giving to Field.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Create individual goals for each
person in the portfolio based on the donor's history of giving and
the School’s current knowledge of the individual.

Design and execute comprehensive
fundraising and stewardship plans for each donor/prospect.

Partner with senior and program staff
and parent volunteers on donor engagement opportunities.

Work with the appropriate staff to
secure project information and use this information to develop
materials directed at individual donors/prospects, such as highly
personalized proposals that are in line with donor interests and
programmatic priorities.

Develop special cultivation and
stewardship opportunities, such as small events for select
donors/prospects in the portfolio, and participate in larger donor
cultivation and fundraising events.

Assist in the identification of
potential leadership volunteers and other partners to engage in
major gifts outreach.

Track portfolio activity and progress
in Raiser’s Edge NXT.

Create reports that accurately
reflect portfolio activity and performance.

Make thank-you calls when assigned to
acknowledge donor gifts.
Qualifications and Competencies:
-
4+ years of Major Gifts Officer
experience.
Familiarity setting and hitting
large-scale gift goals.
Bachelor’s degree is desired;
Experience in independent schools a plus
Intermediate level proficiency with
Raiser’s Edge and NXT platforms
Must be available for local and
regional travel (35%) regularly; must be available for some weekend
and evening responsibilities as needed for events, etc.

Work Environment: Employees may be asked to perform their work duties at home and/or on campus. In both settings, the employee is required to maintain a professional environment. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is active; it requires standing and walking, including stairs.
