Now is the time to consider joining our team as the Senior Director of Development and being part of the involvement, engagement and commitment in celebrating UCLA Samueli’s achievements and paving the way for future endeavors.

Serving as a key member of our Development team, as the Senior Director, you will have a strong impact on advancing this vital campus institution by developing and executing strategies to secure major gifts from individuals, alumni and other entities, in support of the school’s mission and strategic plan. You will have knowledge of a variety of gift vehicles, including planned, capital, blended and major/principal gifts and will be responsible for managing a portfolio of prospects and donors to strategically identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gifts to the School. You will travel regularly, as part of staffing the Dean and School leadership and independently, to regions with a large number of UCLA Samuel alumni and parents. In addition, you will work with development, academic and administrative leadership to develop a cohesive plan to raise awareness and secure funding for initiatives and priorities of the Institute for Technology, Law and Policy (ITLP).  Launched in January 2020, the ITLP is a partnership between UCLA Samueli and the UCLA School of Law to examine the benefits and risks presented by new technologies, , such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and digital media, and will explore how new technology affects society, privacy, government and public policy.

As an ideal candidate, you will have a minimum of five years of progressive responsibility and experience as a professional development officer and/or prior experience in a related field such as sales, marketing or business development.  You will have working knowledge of the principles and practices of fundraising and the ability to plan, implement and administer complex solicitations at the major gift level or those of a similar nature, level and complexity.  You have outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills including strong experience working with a dean and/or senior faculty of a professional school or leadership of a similar level and type at a comparable organization. You are a strong self-starter who thrives on being collaborative, highly organized and managing multiple responsibilities and projects in a dynamic and ever-changing environment. Management experience is preferred and highly desirable.
