The UCLA College is the academic heart of UCLA and home to more than 85 percent of the university’s 28,000 undergraduate students. Together, its four academic divisions—Humanities, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Social Sciences—encompass 34 departments, 109 undergraduate majors, more than 50 graduate degree programs and over 40 PhD programs that span research and teaching across both traditional and emerging disciplines in the liberal arts and sciences. A fifth division, Undergraduate Education, serves as the campus driver of excellence and innovation in the undergraduate experience. As a vital member of the College Development team, the EA College Writer will work with College Development staff, deans and faculty to develop and deliver a wide range of materials for print and online media that will communicate and promote the activities of the College to its constituents and advance the College’s mission. In this role, you will also research and write proposals to foundations, corporations, individuals and other funding agencies to raise funds for high priority projects. Through your efforts, you will formulate persuasive reasons for giving to strengthen philanthropic support for the College and will perform other responsibilities related to proposal development, submission and maintenance.  As a communications project manager, you will manage a wide variety of projects for the College to include preparing deans for their participation in campus events and working with them in identifying and securing speakers for these events.

As an ideal candidate, you will have three to five years of writing experience, preferably in proposal organization and writing within external affairs and/or a related environment such as sales, marketing or business Development.  You will be familiar with the principles and practices of writing proposals and their application to fundraising.  Your prior roles have developed you into a creative and persuasive writer with a strong understanding of tone and voice and a tremendous eye for detail to compose, proofread and edit documents.  You are able to determine your audience and appropriately write to them. Overall, you have outstanding verbal communication and interpersonal skills and enjoy working collaboratively with others toward a common goal. Your experiences have given you a strong ability to organize, prioritize and manage your assignments despite fluctuating deadlines and your dedication, passion and resilience have given you an appreciation for challenging assignments and producing highly polished work of a high standard.
