The Donor Relations Manager is a full-time position that reports directly to the Director of Resource Development.  The Donor Relations Manager is responsible for developing and implementing engagement and fundraising strategies with current and prospective donors, resulting in growing revenue.  The Donor Relations Manager also provides comprehensive administrative assistance to the Development Department, with a focus on office and fundraising support, effective database management and reporting, event logistics and donor stewardship efforts (acknowledgements, gift and pledge tracking, printed materials inventory).  Paramount to this position is the ability to work with a high degree of independence and to juggle various projects at once, while maintaining a clear view of how each project supports the organization’s mission.

 Responsibilities: 

  •  Design, document and implement a systematic and integrated donor relations program.
  • Establish and manage information tracking processes regarding all interactions with donors and donor prospects, including initial contact, phone calls, meetings, event attendance, contributions, pledges, pledge balances, acknowledgements, volunteer activities and interests.
  • Support senior staff and Board members in keeping track of donor prospects, contacts, and donor cultivation progress.
  • As needed, conduct donor prospect research.
  • Using the database, generate reports as needed by senior staff and Board members for donor cultivation purposes, appeals, events, and tracking gifts and pledges.
  • Work with the Development Department to create year-round engagement and solicitation strategies to retain and cultivate current donors and to attract new donors.
  • Provide logistical support and coordination for site-based and virtual fundraising events, including creating budgets, managing invitations, hiring and coordinating vendors, coordinating with Communications staff on promotion of the event, and managing day of the event activities.
  • Solicit in-kind donations and sponsorships for events.
  • Maintain online profiles, including Charity Navigator and Guidestar.
  • Maintain inventory of print materials used by the Development Department.
  • Provide professional assistance and interaction with donors (via phone, computer and face-to-face.)
  • Attend internal and external meetings as the position requires.
  • Provide additional administrative support for the Development Department as needed.

 Qualifications:

  • Ability to convey a high degree of commitment and passion for the mission of CCA.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills that are effective with a diverse range of audiences including Board members, staff, volunteers, donors, executives, potential funding partners, and cross-cultural constituencies.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent understanding of philanthropy as it relates to nonprofit organizations; knowledge of fundamental disciplines of resource development.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; detail-oriented; well-organized; goal-oriented, with a high level of initiative and energy.
  • Prior experience in database management and knowledge of at least one donor database system.
  • Ability to create, execute and/or support and oversee a comprehensive donor acknowledgement and development plan, including carefully orchestrated cultivation events for the major donors.

 Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years nonprofit donor relations experience.
  • Knowledge of and deep experience with at least one donor database system; experience with cloud-based systems and/or donor database migration a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal, written and digital communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent life experience.
  • Knowledge of the criminal legal system is a plus.
  • Individuals with past involvement with the criminal legal system are strongly encouraged to apply.
