We are currently recruiting for an exciting position in our
Philanthropy department as an Associate Director, Philanthropy
Research & Prospect Management.
The person in this position will have the following responsibilities:
Prospect Research and Management:
• Willing to initiate and lead projects to make development officer's work more effective
• Serve as an internal consultant to development officers, provide targeted services that support fundraising strategies and priorities.
• Assign prospects to gift officer portfolios and monitor related qualification, cultivation and solicitation activities
• Designs regular reports to track frontline fundraiser activity, prospect pipeline summaries, portfolio tracking reports, and event success.
• Participates in strategy sessions and works closely with the VP of Philanthropy and Director of Development in identifying prospects, analyzing pertinent information related to those prospects, and entering/ushering prospects through the major gift pipeline.
• Responds to formal research queries for specific fundraisers with quick turnaround and with accuracy and attention to detail and high professional standard
• Manages the design and implementation of donor database as it relates to prospect coding systems and procedures for contact reports, ratings, and solicitation tracking.
• Performs prospect management system audits and other data integrity operations as needed.
• Takes the lead role in preparing prospect data for Wealth Screenings.
• Rate and re-rate 50 major rated prospects with the purpose of identifying/qualifying new prospects and assign wealth ratings based on known indicators of wealth.
• Disseminate prospect news and rating information; participate in planning and strategy development meetings
• Prepares confidential research by analyzing complex financial and employment information to establish or reevaluate gift capacity ratings.
• Works to identify potential new major gift prospects through review of corporate information and other sources

- Bachelor's degree
- 5+ years of experience in conducting prospect research in a nonprofit fundraising environment, ideally for an academic institution.
- Strong customer service orientation and follow through
- Experience in collecting, processing, and reporting information in a data processing environment.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work successfully in teams and under own initiative while juggling multiple projects and meet deadlines efficiently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong time management skills.
- Ability to prepare and present information in various report formats.
- Strong knowledge of Excel and relational databases.
- Expert knowledge of research tools and industry best practices
