Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) is the premier national nonprofit transforming the food supply in pursuit of health equity. Founded in 2010 in coordination with Former First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! Initiative, PHA seeks partnerships that have the greatest impact on reducing health disparities and develops evidence-based, scalable approaches that drive equity-focused, systemic changes across entire sectors. Over ten years, we have partnered with more than 250 corporations, convenience store chains, hospitals, early childhood education centers, food banks, and SNAP-Ed implementing agencies, among others, in pursuit of our vision that all children grow up healthy and free from obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic conditions.

Your Role

PHA is looking for a Senior Leader to serve as Vice President of Marketing and Development in charge of marketing the NGO’s mission and work, raising PHA’s profile, building a culture of philanthropy, and overseeing the organization’s communications team. As a centerpiece to the role, this individual will also lead the development and expansion of a robust online fundraising campaign for the organization. The role reports directly to the organization’s President & CEO and will be part of the organization’s senior leadership team. 

 

Initial Responsibilities include:

  • Building a successful national online fundraising campaign around food equity: This will involve setting a goal that inspires you, the CEO, contractors, and your team; developing a strategy and implementing a plan to move toward that goal; and using your marketing knowledge and strategy to drive results. In addition, this will involve tapping the online pipeline for potential major gift donors. The organization has a start-up fundraising operation generating $100,000 per year and would like to grow that to 7 figures.
  • Cause Marketing Partnerships: Taking advantage of the organization’s rising profile to develop cause marketing opportunities with brands that are helping to drive improved equity in access to affordable, healthy food. 
  • Communications: Overseeing the press and digital operation of the organization, with an aim toward raising PHA’s profile and advancing the organization’s mission.  
  • Events: Overseeing PHA’s virtual events, including the organization’s annual summit. 

 

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

    Minimum of a BA/BS degree A minimum of 10 years of demonstrated experience in marketing and development, with specific knowledge of and demonstrated results related to online fundraising, digital communications, content management, media relations, email programs/campaigns, SEO, and social media An understanding of development principles and regulations pertaining to charitable contributions Strong financial skills including the ability to develop budgets and reports that present a clear picture of fundraising activities A creative and innovative mindset with experience in managing and executing graphically compelling communications materials  Experience driving successful social media and email campaigns  Excellent writing and communication skills for multiple audiences, including internal and external audiences, across various digital channels  Experience managing external consultants and freelancers and engaging corporate partners  Ability to work independently, drive progress, share vision, adapt, and thrive in a fast-paced environment with new opportunities emerging weekly.  Familiarity with Salsa, Salesforce, and other e-mail & fundraising CMS platforms A passion for PHA’s work transforming the food landscape in pursuit of health equity
