The Digital Department Manager oversees the web development team, digital strategy, reporting, and analytics; and facilitates and maintains MAF websites, as an essential part of the work of MAF so that the Gospel is proclaimed and God's Kingdom is extended.

 

Essential Duties

  • MAF websites
    • Updates site content with organizational data, such as key marketing documents, newsletters, annual reports, strategic plans, field stories, fact sheets, etc.
    • Moderates/reviews content of staff web pages and works with other departments to maintain organizational standards
    • Tests integrity of links and ensures all external links from websites are functioning
    • Spearheads regular website redesign and recommends enhancements
    • Spearheads and facilitates new and existing interaction website functions to increase interaction and traffic growth
    • Serves as primary owner on social network platforms
    • Serves as strategic lead to web team about new media and future developmental plans and online trends
    • Provides web development support and training to other departments for external website
    • Serves as expert on web development, donor database, and social network tools
  • Strategy
    • Coordinates and maintains electronic communications with organization supporters/donors and the general public
    • Provides tactical advice and support on organizational electronic mailings
    • Maintains statistical and motivational code tracking for each e-mail sent
  • Administration
    • Writes and updates timely response procedures for each campaign and website strategy
    • Recruits and directs outsourced services
    • Collaborates with inter-department personnel
    • Ensures utilization of appropriate motivation and designation codes
    • Produces regular reports and analyses; provides to Director as needed
  • Management
    • Produces regular statistical reports on site traffic volume and usage trends; makes recommendations improvements based on reports
    • Manages processes for increasing site traffic
    • Assigns projects and tasks to other members of the web team
  • Bulk Email
    • Manages and oversees electronic communication platforms with organization suporters/donors and the general public
    • Provides tactical advice and support on organizational electronic mailings
    • Maintains statistical and motivational code tracking for each e-mail sent
  • Supervisory Functions
    • Provides direction, guidance, and accountability to staff, volunteers, and contracted services under direct supervision
    • Promotes teamwork, cooperation, motivation, and encourages attitudes of customer service and productivity
    • Provides adequate training and coaching so that staff perform duties to their fullest potential; oversees the maintenance of current training manuals for staff
    • Prepares and conducts annual performance reviews and partners with each employee under direct supervision to establish goals and complete work plans while encouraging staff to develop to their full potential, setting goals for the next performance period
    • Oversees staff schedule (e.g. furlough, vacation, sick leave, personal)
    • Works with staff to resolve conflict and acts as initial contact for grievances, workplace issues and worker injury matters
    • Works with Human Resources on staff issues, including discipline and termination decisions, and develops an understanding of human resource practices and policies
    • Ensures staff job descriptions are current and assists in interviewing and recommending candidates as new staff members in Department's open positions, as needed
  • Budget Responsibilities
    • Oversees the preparation, development, implementation, and administration of the annual budget for all areas under direct responsibility
    • Oversees the financial well-being of the areas under direct responsibility by providing direction to meet goals within allocated resources, while encouraging efficient use of resources and appropriate cost-control measures
    • Evaluates and monitors monthly financial reports and variance analyses
    • Reviews, tracks, and processes all expenses from outside vendors and in-house activity for areas under direct responsibility
    • Maintains records of expenses and income to facilitate preparation of reports

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in digital marketing or web development, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 years experience developing and maintaining websites
  • 3 years management/leadership experience
  • 2 years email development and strategy experience
  • 2 years managing secure hosting platforms and sites
  • 1 year CRM experience
  • 1 year business or nonprofit fundraising experience

Skills

  • Advanced skill in site management tools, database management, content management, optimization and automation tools
  • Intermediate ability in translating layouts to electronic medium
  • Basic skill in Adobe Suite
  • Intermediate skill in Adobe Acrobat
  • Advanced knowledge/understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Intermediate knowledge/understanding of web best practices: UI/UX, conversion, funnel tracking, analytics, and reporting
  • Google analytics and data studio
  • Wordpress and PHP development

Physical Requirements

  • This position requires long periods of sitting/standing at a desk
  • Detailed and repetitive computer work
