Gift Planning Officer
Our Current Opportunity in The Office of Gift Planning
As Penn State continues a record-setting campaign, A Greater Penn State for 21st Century Excellence, a Gift Planning Officer is needed to support the Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DDAR) in the Office of Gift Planning (OGP). Reporting to the Director of Gift Planning and working closely with other fundraising units, as well as other partners, this Gift Planning Officer will:
- Assist in the evolution of the OGP's efforts to generate,
evaluate, cultivate, and solicit leads through marketing
initiatives by leveraging technology
- Articulate Penn State's needs, ambitions, and values, including
diversity, equity, and inclusion, through excellent informal and
formal communications
- Manage assessment and coordination of cultivation with OGP
colleagues
- Solicit and close technically simply and straightforward
bequests
- Coordinate OGP stewardship of Atherton Society
members
- Evaluate and recommend additional methods for prospect
engagement and stewardship
- Assist in the development and production of communication
tools, proposals and reports
- Manage leads tracking and analyze results to evaluate success
of marketing initiatives and recommend enhancements to marketing to
improve impact
- Coordinate efforts, as needed, with Colleges, Campuses, and
Units as well as central Development offices
- Research prospects and develop strategies to move prospects to
become donors through identification, cultivation, solicitation and
stewardship
- Match University strengths and programs with donor interests and capabilities
This position typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher (legal education a plus) and two years of work-related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate will also have:
- Familiarity with planned giving vehicles, tax laws regarding
charitable giving, and donor tracking software is
preferred
- A dedication to and understanding of the skills required to
build relationships with diverse communities
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and
inclusion
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal,
and organizational skills, as well as a proven ability to bring
innovation, analysis, and problem-solving to further the success of
a highly collaborative team
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite and virtual meeting technology
(e.g. Zoom)
- A proven ability to self-motivate and work both independently
and as part of a team
- A commitment to professional development, learning, and being mentored
Operation of a motor vehicle as part of the position's duties and a valid driver's license are required. Successful completion of a motor vehicle records check, in addition to standard background checks, is also required.
