Title – Danny Awards & Disability Awareness Outreach Manager  

Tentative Start Date: July 1, 2021(Virtual interviews begin June 1)

Schedule: Full-time position (40 hours a week, plus extended hours around specific times of the year)

Tentative Salary: $50,000  

Job Description:  Reports directly to the Marketing & Disability Awareness Director with a primary focus on Disability Awareness. Responsibilities include initial outreach to schools, organizations/corporations, and scheduling for the DMF Disability Awareness Through Music Initiative, plus promotion and execution of the Danny Awards and the Disability Awareness Pledge.  Additional responsibilities include identifying potential sponsors for the Danny Awards, with some marketing support, specifically cultivation and growth of the Disability Awareness database.

Roles & Responsibilities:

DMF Disability Awareness Through Music Initiative

  • Identify and contact new potential partner schools, organizations, and corporations for the Disability Awareness through Music Initiative
  • Cultivate relationships and communicate regularly with new and existing Disability Awareness partners including post-event surveys and follow up on expanded opportunities
  • Manage master schedule for Disability Awareness presentations and create a master library of presentations on google drive
  • Act as liaison for existing DMF Junior Council@ Program partner high schools initially (and colleges secondarily) to develop and execute programs as DMF Ambassadors, plus increase the number of schools/universities participating in the program
  • Marketing support for all collateral and presentations with ongoing refreshes 

The Danny Awards

  • Research and identify potential corporate sponsorship opportunities for the Danny Awards
  • Marketing support in promotion for submissions and attendance to the Danny Awards including, but not limited to: email marketing, public relations, google ads, etc.
  • Facilitate and support with Danny Awards submissions and communication with judges
  • Act as support in all aspects of event management for The Danny Awards

Disability Awareness Pledge

  • Constantly identify new ways to bring the pledge to life
  • Recommend ongoing updates for DA app, website plus social media channels (collaborate with social media manager)
  • Manage the Disability Awareness database including schedule and content for email marketing communications
  • Research and identify potential pledge partner organizations and manage relationships
  • Identify hit lists for potential celebrity outreach
  • Support PR agency


  • 5+ years in marketing/public relations/communications, diversity experience a plus
  • Bachelor degree in marketing or communications with some coursework in philanthropic studies preferred
  • Solution-oriented, team player who is able to work independently and work well with others
  • Strong planning and organization skills with a commitment to seeing projects all the way through
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Empathetic and passionate about helping to build a more inclusive society for individuals with disabilities is a must!
  • Strong decision-making skills, good judgment and the ability to effectively advocate on behalf of individuals with disabilities
