POSITION: Director of Finance & Administration
STATUS: Full-time exempt
LOCATION: National (remote is possible)
START DATE: Immediately
Literacy Partners strengthens families through a two-generation approach to education. With our free classes, community-based workshops, and educational media, low-income parents develop the literacy and language skills they need to succeed in today’s world. Our research-based curriculum also incorporates child development and parenting support to help parents boost their children’s early reading, school readiness, and social-emotional growth.
The Position: Our expanding organization is seeking a Director of Finance & Administration (DFA) to join our team and oversee all financial and administrative aspects of our operations and ensure sound financial management and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. This individual will manage, guide, and monitor all finance operations, from running program expense reports and quarterly reports to the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors, to supervising the Senior Bookkeeper, overseeing our annual audit, and maintaining our financial database. The DFA will also oversee all administrative operations from oversight of existing vendor contracts, benefits, and compliance with government regulations, to management of our physical office and internal protocols.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this position is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and will join our diverse, social justice-oriented team of 27 staff and more than 100 interns and volunteers.
Responsibilities

Oversee financial operations and
manage financial planning and strategy
Ensure compliance with FASB and
implement best practices for nonprofit financial management and
fund accounting
Ensure timely and accurate financial
management and external reporting for all government contracts and
institutional grants.
Develop and maintain internal
tracking and reporting systems for organizational and program-level
expenses and revenues and for each external funding source
Create budget projections for grant
requests and for internal planning
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and
annual financial reports for the Executive Team and the Finance
Committee of the Board of Directors
Oversee annual audits and ensure
timely government filings (federal and relevant states)
Oversee vendor contract management
system, MWBE purchasing protocols, and benefits and operations
administration
Supervise the Senior Bookkeeper and
be prepared to assist with some day-to-day accounting functions
when needed
Support department staff to develop
and monitor program budgets
Manage our accounting database
Manage internal controls
Qualifications and Requirements
-
3+ years of proven experience as a
Director of Finance & Administration or similar role
Proficiency with Generally Accepted
Accounting Principles (especially as set by the Financial
Accounting Standards Board)
Knowledgeable of financial analysis
and forecasting
Proficiency in Blackbaud Financial
Edge NXT, Excel, and Google Sheets
Excellent organizational and
leadership skills
Strong communication and
interpersonal abilities
Experience in non-profits
preferred
Great sense of humor
