The American Society of Hematology (ASH), a Washington, DC based association of physicians and scientists committed to promoting blood disease research and education, seeks an energetic, motivated and detail-oriented Institutional Giving Manager.  In collaboration with the Director, ASH Foundation, the Institutional Giving Manager will develop and implement strategies to increase giving to the ASH Foundation from foundations, corporations, and other organizations. The Manager will become familiar with ASH programs, projects, and priorities; assess institutional funding potential for them; research potential funders through electronic resources and institutional relationships; develop effective funding proposals; and organize stewardship activities. The Manager will interact, as appropriate, with the ASH Foundation committee, as well as other ASH volunteers and members, and coordinate activities with ASH staff.

 

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of progressive experience with a non-profit organization in corporate and/or foundation philanthropy; experience in healthcare is strongly preferred.  Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to secure funding from corporate and foundation sources.  Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management skills; must be detail-oriented and able to deliver results on multiple priorities simultaneously.  Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.  Team player, who works well with diverse team members of all levels and backgrounds.  Self-starter requiring minimal direct supervision. Proficient in MS Office, constituent management systems, and other databases.

The ASH staff has been teleworking full-time since March 2020.  Plans are currently underway for staff to return to the office in the September 2021 timeframe with core office days on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and telework on Mondays and Fridays for eligible positions. The Society’s headquarters is within walking distance of several Metro stations on the Blue/Orange/Silver and Red lines.
