Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF) is a worldwide spiritual and humanitarian organization founded by Paramahansa Yogananda in 1920 and legally incorporated as a non-profit religious organization in 1935, to serve as Yogananda’s instrument for the preservation and worldwide dissemination of his writings and teachings, including Kriya Yoga.

Position Overview:

Self-Realization Fellowship is seeking an Assistant Manager of Philanthropic Relations with three to five years of fundraising experience. This key professional position is tasked with helping to build new donor related programs and preparing for the launch of large capital campaigns and other priority organizational initiatives.  They will need to be able to think critically, demonstrate strong decision-making and time management skills, and communicate professionally with wide range of individuals from around the world.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Donor Relations

  • Oversee the development and implementation of an annual giving program that includes a high level of donor care, supports the annual fund goals, builds a mid-level giving program, and expands the recurring/sustaining donor program;
  • Assist Director with oversight and management of all aspects of donor stewardship in coordination with other organizational partners;
  • Assist Director in working with SRF leadership, including Temple Ministers, to develop and implement strategies that engage members/donors in helping to achieving specific organizational priorities.
Campaign Management
  • Assist Director in providing overall campaign management and organization including assistance with pre-campaign feasibility study, development of donor pipelines, prospect tracking, task assignment and maintenance of timelines;
  • Responsible for scheduling meetings, preparing talking points, assembling presentations, and full meeting preparation for Board members, campaign volunteers and SRF staff;
  • Assist with the development of campaign collateral and correspondence including videos, brochures, web-pages, social media, solicitation proposals, meeting requests, and meeting follow up;
  • Maintain master campaign calendar to keep campaign process on track;
  • Oversee acknowledgement of all campaign gifts and pledges and preparation of pledge payment reminders and pledge agreements in coordination with organizational partners;
  • Organize and monitor volunteer committees, assignments and follow-up, and assist in all aspects of volunteer-led events in partnership with department staff.
Communications
  • In collaboration with relevant department staff, assist with the development of donor communications including impact reports, newsletters, blog posts, donor related web-pages, collateral, videos, social media presence, etc., ensuring brand and mission alignment as well as accuracy and professionalism;
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of a multi-year communication plan and strategy to increase member awareness of department services, build donor loyalty and engagement, and support organization’s mission, values and highest priority funding initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree is required and three to five years fundraising experience relevant to the responsibilities;
  • Relevant experience in a nonprofit, multicultural and/or global organization preferred;
  • Experience in and knowledge of new fundraising program development, donor communications, relationship management, and capital or comprehensive campaigns is preferred;
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, customer service and problem solving skills. Ability to interact with SRF leadership, team-members, donors, and volunteers at a variety of levels with integrity and professionalism;
  • Must show initiative, self-motivation, and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities;
  • Ability to quickly and easily adopt to changing organizational needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a strong team environment;
  • Experience managing project teams, including working with and overseeing volunteer team members;
  • Demonstrated skillfulness in the use a variety of software, applications, and programs including Microsoft Office, donor databases, and development software/systems;
  • Ability to honor and maintain a strict level of confidentiality;
  • Knowledge of and commitment to SRF’s mission and core values preferred.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to repeatedly lift and carry materials weighing up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs carry, grasp, reach and stoop as needed
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors.

 

Hours: Full-time, exempt position
