Passionate about making a difference? Well, look no further! JP is growing to reach more families. We have a wonderful opportunity for a Grant Writer to join our amazing Development Department. The Grant Writer is an essential member of our Campus Support Team and is responsible for generating grant revenue.
The Grant Writer will engage in the full scope of work essential to JP’s fund development and cultivation activities by identifying, researching, preparing, and submitting grant proposals to corporations and foundations. The successful candidate will be able to craft compelling proposals and reports that show JP’s 2Gen impact. With excellent writing, analytical, research and data analysis skills, the self-motivated, detailed oriented candidate will be able to craft powerful proposals that advance JP’s mission.
Leverage data that support the identification of potential alignment between grantor funding priorities and JP’s mission across our campuses. Edit letters of intent, grant applications, proposals, budgets and prepare timely reports to funding sources on grants received.
Support all research activities for potential grant opportunities that align with JP’s mission by performing prospect research on foundations and informing all relevant internal stakeholders of grant opportunities and eligibility requirements.
Ensure that standard elements such as qualifications statements, staff biographies, support letters, and required funder forms are accurate and readily available.
Assist in the development of case statements and narratives to identify strategic areas for program growth that describe JP’s work in a way that will inspire funding interest that fuels the intersection of our two generation, housing, education, and all social justice work. Identify, research, strategic outreach of new and existing institutional and foundation partners.
Support the submission of proposals, applications, letters of interest, and concept papers by synthesizing organizational needs and goals into provoking proposals. This also may involve developing and executing work plans and timelines, meeting facilitation, quality assurance, internal communications with internal/ external partners and funders, and final submission.
Facilitate grantor understanding of JP by supporting the coordination of interactions with the appropriate JP campus staff, board members, and donors. This may include sharing information about JP with grantors, arranging and conducting video/conference calls, and campus visits.
Prepare major donor, board, and special category solicitations with the intent of retaining and or upgrading gifts when possible.
Demonstrate the ability to exercise excellent judgment, discretion, and sensitivity in handling confidential information.
Other duties as assigned to help advance JP’s fundraising strategy and organizational infrastructure.

- Creative: You can conceptualize and describe funding needs in a way that is compelling to prospects, donors, board members, and other You have a knack for designing logic models and conveying information and research that is compelling, clear, and analytic in style.
- Organizational Maven: You can manage across multiple work streams and functions, keeping deadlines and managing complexity by simplifying solutions, systems, and processes.
- A minimum of three years of (3) years of professional/progressive work experience in research, proposal, and or fundraising in This can include writing within a research-focused, journalism, or media setting.
- Strong time management skills required; highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to juggle multiple tasks at once in a deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent research, organizational, and communication skills with demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively.
- Ability to identify and solve problems using sound judgment, initiative, and creativity.
- PC proficient, and skilled with Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience or familiarity with Raiser’s Edge fundraising database a plus.
- Professional conduct in all interactions with the highest level of integrity.
- High energy, positive, “can do attitude,” flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail, high degree of initiative.
