About the position
We are looking for a dynamic Associate Manager of Development, a vital member of the development team who will head our grant seeking and reporting process from foundations and government agencies, manage relationships with current funders and diligently research new opportunities for funding, and support fundraising efforts through a multi-year capital campaign.
This position requires strong writing, data analysis, program budgeting, project management skills, with an emphasis on grant compliance and outcome measurement. Reports to the Director of Development and works closely with all departments to gather programmatic information and updates.
Responsibilities include
Grant Seeking and Reporting (70%)

In collaboration with the Director of
Development, develop a comprehensive strategy for conducting
prospect research and soliciting foundations and government
grants
Manage the identification, research,
cultivation, solicitation, recognition, and stewardship of grant
funders.
Draft and edit letters of intent,
grant proposals, online submissions, acknowledgements, reports, and
necessary supporting documents for complex proposals to current and
prospective funders.
Work closely with the Director of
Development, COO, and program staff to effectively communicate the
mission and programs of the organization to funders.
System and Database Management (20%)

Oversee digital record keeping in
eTapestry as well as on the organization’s shared drive.
Develop and maintain a grant calendar
for all funding requests.
Manage existing grants and track
funding; develop internal reporting systems; write reports;
maintain historical and organizational records; work with staff to
ensure each project or program is meeting proposal conditions and
expectations.
Other Fundraising and Capacity Building Efforts (10%)

Support the Executive Director and
other organizational leadership in preparing for fundraising
meetings, presentations, and events.
Support the Development Team at
cultivation and donor-facing events, in-person or
virtual.
Support the DoD and Art21’s
leadership and board executing a 5 year capital campaign
Supervise and work with the
development intern (2 days per week)
Prepare written and statistical
reports for Director of Development, COO, ED, and board as
necessary.
Qualifications
-
3 years of nonprofit experience
developing, writing, and securing foundation and government grants,
overseeing all aspects of the grant seeking and reporting process.
Preferably at an arts, cultural, or education
institution.

Demonstrated analytical and
persuasive writing experience, including the ability to convey
complex information and data in a clear manner for specific
audiences. Knowledge of grant and budgeting
guidelines.

Superior communication skills;
knowledge of the fundraising process, and the concepts of donor
relations and communications.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Team-driven attitude. Ability to
effectively and independently manage projects, anticipate
obstacles, delegate tasks, and collaborate with team members on
multiple projects.

Expected to utilize MS Office, Google
Suite, and other programs with high proficiency. Familiarity with
CRM, donor databases is preferred.
This full-time position is based in New York City with a starting salary of $55,000 plus benefit package that includes Medical and Dental insurance, TransitChek Program, summer Fridays, professional development opportunities, generous paid time off policy, and most importantly an excellent work life balance.
